Our family had a wonderful time on this trip. The area was stunning and the weather was perfect; we stayed dry. We observed plenty of sea life, including sea lions and eagles, along with a lovely lighthouse. It was great to experience authentic Sitka beyond just the cruise port.

This kayaking tour, guided by Charlie and Liz, was the highlight of our 10-day adventure in Alaska. My husband and I, along with our three adult children aged 27, 18, and 16, were all beginners but had no trouble keeping up. Charlie and Liz ensured our safety, taught us how to paddle effectively, and helped us have a fantastic experience. We encountered salmon, which Charlie caught with his bare hands, along with starfish, sea urchins, abalone, eagles, and river otters. A large sea lion, whom we named “Frank,” accompanied us for half the journey. The weather was lovely; even the rain couldn’t dampen our spirits. To our amazement, we spotted a humpback whale in the distance, hearing and even smelling him. Charlie and Liz captured great photos and videos throughout our trip, which they shared with us. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour as it was worth every cent. Just be ready to get wet; the provided skirt helped, but we were still pretty soaked afterward. Quick-dry pants and water-resistant shoes were a wise choice, and even on a warm day in Sitka, having a rain jacket or hat is advisable.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Charlie and Liz. It felt truly special to have a private tour for just the four of us in kayaks. We were able to paddle at our own speed, which made for a serene experience. Our guides seemed just as enthusiastic as we were about observing nature up close. Charlie, the owner and guide, expertly led us through multiple islands in Sitka Sound, sharing his extensive knowledge of the local history and marine life. Throughout the trip, we spotted seals, sea lions, eagles, starfish, and sea urchins. Charlie was approachable, patient, and made the experience enjoyable. The views of Sitka and the stunning surrounding hills, including the dormant Mount Edgecumbe, were breathtaking from the water. The tandem kayak was brand new and excelled compared to others I've used, and the other gear, including the life vest and spray skirt, was also in great condition. I highly recommend Charlie and his tour company. Five stars!
