Reviews
The traffic in Phnom Penh is quite bad, so it's important for tour operators to plan accordingly to ensure that the time required for the tour is realistic.
If I were only evaluating the guide, Long would earn a perfect 5 stars. However, the transportation was disappointing and deserving of just 1 star. The three-hour drive to Phnom Penh was uncomfortable for us in the back seat. The vehicle seemed to have issues, as we struggled to keep up with other traffic. We had to leave Phnom Penh by 3 PM without lunch because the driver claimed he needed extra time to return us to the port. The return journey took 3.5 hours as we drove much slower than the rest of the vehicles. I question whether this vehicle was suitable for the trip, as we only had about 3 hours to explore Phnom Penh, making the lengthy travel time feel unjustified.
The journey to reach the destination involved a lengthy drive, but the sights were worthwhile. The museum experience was particularly touching, and our guide demonstrated extensive knowledge throughout the tour.
Six of us from our cruise ship participated in this tour in a minivan and collaborated well as a group. There was so much to see and learn! Although I walked slowly, we were able to visit all the sites in a short time. There was plenty of driving, but it was absolutely worthwhile. A truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The journey was lengthy, but our guide ensured it was worthwhile. Overall, the itinerary was quite enjoyable.
The journey to Phnom Penh takes about 2 1/2 hours along a lesser-used expressway constructed by the Chinese. It was fascinating to travel through the city with two fellow passengers in a comfortable Toyota van, skillfully maneuvering around cars, scooters, and tuk-tuks. The serene tour of the royal complex led by an insightful guide was enjoyable, followed by a visit to the Genocide Museum, which was formerly a prison during the Khmer Rouge era in Cambodia.
This was an excellent journey featuring a fantastic guide and driver, Vibol. Although the Royal Palace was closed, we explored the surrounding square. The Khmer Rouge genocide museum was upsetting, yet it provided essential understanding of Cambodia's recent history.
The experience was outstanding. Our driver, Mr. Tho, was fantastic—despite the long journey, it was comfortable and enjoyable, allowing us to relax before reaching Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, we met our guide, Makara, who was exceptional and full of knowledge. He shared insights about Cambodia’s history with evident passion and graciously answered all our questions throughout the tour. A heartfelt thanks to both our driver and guide for making the visit so worthwhile—highly recommended.
The journey to Phnom Penh from our ship was quite lengthy, but our guide was incredibly helpful and well-informed, shedding light on Cambodia's history during the ride. His insights provided us with a greater understanding of the country’s historical events. We also had time for lunch and made our return on schedule.
The driver was friendly and courteous but had very limited English, leaving him unable to answer questions throughout the 3.5-hour drive. While the palace buildings were stunning, the overwhelming traffic made the experience less enjoyable. Overall, I questioned whether the 7 hours spent in the car was worthwhile.
