The railway excursion was nicely organized. The train offered comfort, and there were various dining choices provided. The commentary on history and wildlife was also quite helpful.
This was one of my best travel experiences. We spotted bears, moose, and bald eagles. I opted for the gold star package, which included an upper glass car, drinks, and dinner. The views were stunning and truly impressive.
This experience is absolutely essential. It's worth upgrading to the Goldstar service. We plan to return to explore the section leading to Denali.
After our orca tour, we boarded the train. The day had been cold and rainy, and it took some time to warm up the carriage. The food was tasty, especially the pot roast and karamasu, and drinks from the bar were complimentary. The staff was very friendly. Keep an eye out for dead trees with over 50 eagles resting on the left side. The views were stunning; we saw at least 30 waterfalls, mountain goats, and snow-capped mountains—photos truly do not capture the beauty.
It was a positive experience for me as a first-time traveler. The additional elements like the sights and historical context were enjoyable. I recommend trying to arrange for bear and moose sightings.
The views were truly unforgettable, and the tour guide provided excellent information at just the right moments. All the staff were friendly and helpful. After our flight to Anchorage, we drove a similar route to the Kenai Peninsula, took a half-day boat trip in Seward, and returned in time to catch the train back to Anchorage. It was convenient to leave our car overnight since we spent the night in Anchorage.
We opted for an upgrade to class B and traveled in the upper section of the train, which features nearly all glass, providing a complete view of the snow-covered mountains. The food was excellent, and the team was very attentive.
The landscapes were stunning, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the window throughout the journey. While it isn't inexpensive, it's truly worth it. I traveled in economy from Seward to Anchorage and from Denali to Fairbanks; the first route is definitely the most worthwhile. I selected the second one mainly because it was cheaper than the bus.
There was no train; instead, we took a bus. The seats at the train station were quite uncomfortable, and it was too cold to wait outside. They distributed food boxes that were only sufficient for six or seven people, and then they apologized, saying that was all they had. It would have been better not to provide food at all.
There was no communication regarding the cancellation of my train, and they simply replaced it with a bus without sending any email or making a call. I recommend avoiding any bookings through this service.
