Two to three hours, 2.5-mile round trip on snowshoes or ice cleats, hot cocoa included, explore the winter ecology of Giant Sequoias.
This moderate snowshoe adventure takes you along a 2.5-mile round trip trail to Bear Hill in Sequoia National Park. Along the way, you'll encounter Giant Sequoias blanketed in fresh snow and can learn to snowshoe while observing animal tracks. If the snow isn't sufficient for snowshoes, the trail can also be navigated using ice cleats.
The experience includes a warm drink—choose from hot cocoa, coffee, or tea—upon reaching Bear Hill, where you'll hear about the history of the area. Be sure to bring your camera, as there will be plenty of opportunities to capture the wintry landscape.

Krista was excellent. We had a wonderful time snowshoeing, and her knowledge was impressive as she provided thorough explanations. Thank you.
Krista's snowshoe tour was the standout moment of our trip to SNP. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we had an incredible experience filled with engaging insights and stunning landscapes. The conditions were ideal thanks to a recent snowfall. She tailored the hike to our preferences, and the gear provided was excellent. We enjoyed a hot drink midway through, and we were able to pack lunches from Totem before starting. Traveling with teens can be challenging, and this adventure captivated them while creating unforgettable memories. I planned this snowshoe hike for our first day, expecting Krista to share recommendations for the rest of our week. She certainly delivered! This was one of the most remarkable outdoor experiences we've ever had. Thank you, Krista!
Thank you, Krista! We truly enjoyed our experience. We were fortunate that it snowed the night prior. Snowshoeing was definitely a standout moment, but Krista's insights about the magnificent Sequoias made it even more memorable. We hiked a trail that hadn't been used that day, making our own footprints while observing and touching the fluffy giant trees. We marveled at their various shapes, with some burnt and others not, alongside the different shades of brown and red bark. It was simply wonderful and the highlight of our road trip. Thanks, Krista, for making this day so special! Niclas, Tereza, and Elias.
Our visit to Sequoia National Park was truly memorable, thanks to Krista. Her vibrant energy and extensive knowledge made each moment engaging. She shared intriguing facts about the magnificent trees and even surprised us with hot cocoa during a scenic pause—such a nice gesture. The standout moment was when she filmed an educational video with our boys for their school project, which they thoroughly enjoyed. If you’re planning a trip to Sequoia, touring with Krista is an experience you shouldn't miss—she's exceptional.
Krista was an incredible guide during our visit to Sequoia Park. My daughters gained a lot of knowledge, and we thoroughly enjoyed the stunning scenery. The trees were truly magnificent. Her positive attitude inspired us to extend our day, allowing us to complete three trails.
Krista was an excellent guide who connected well with our children and made the hike more enjoyable when necessary. Her enthusiasm for the park and its trees was contagious. I highly recommend this experience as it truly was the highlight of our trip.
All the positive feedback you've seen is accurate. Krista went above and beyond, providing my family with a delightful winter adventure to Moro Rock via the stunning Giant Forest. With her extensive knowledge and palpable passion for nature, my daughters learned so much and were completely engaged during the four-hour hike. Krista’s friendly and relaxed demeanor made the experience even better. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour and her services. She also helped us plan the rest of our stay and kindly drove us back to our lodge to avoid the long shuttle lines. It was a truly outstanding experience! Thank you, Krista!
Our experience with Kristi was fantastic. She was incredibly knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend this activity.
We arranged a private snowshoe hike with Krista weeks in advance. However, when we arrived at Sequoia National Park for our mid-February booking, there was no snow. We switched to a winter hike on a gorgeous sunny day with Krista, who proved to be an absolute gem. Krista’s energy, knowledge, and approach made her the ideal guide for our family of four. My 7-year-old was initially upset and car sick after the drive to the Giant Forest Museum, but Krista quickly charmed him. She provided him hand warmers when he felt cold and engaged him by answering his questions, sharing fascinating stories and facts about the sequoias as well as the local flora and fauna. Her passion for nature was infectious, and by the end of the 2.5-mile hike, my son declared he had the best time ever! We spotted mule deer, discussed various tree species and their seeds, and learned about the park’s history. She even made animal scat an exciting topic for the kids! During our break, Krista pleasantly surprised them with hot chocolate, and she also brewed coffee with condensed milk for my husband and mint tea with turbinado sugar for me. Having visited Sequoia multiple times, I found Krista's approach made everything stress-free and enjoyable. Her interaction with our whole family turned it into a memorable hike. The private hike with Krista was definitely the highlight of our weekend. Don’t hesitate to book her—you won’t be disappointed.
This is an excellent opportunity to explore places you might not discover alone. The sequoias during the winter season are truly breathtaking.
