Snowshoe adventure at Bear Hill in Sequoia National Park — Adventure things to do in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

Two to three hours, 2.5-mile round trip on snowshoes or ice cleats, hot cocoa included, explore the winter ecology of Giant Sequoias.

This moderate snowshoe adventure takes you along a 2.5-mile round trip trail to Bear Hill in Sequoia National Park. Along the way, you'll encounter Giant Sequoias blanketed in fresh snow and can learn to snowshoe while observing animal tracks. If the snow isn't sufficient for snowshoes, the trail can also be navigated using ice cleats.

The experience includes a warm drink—choose from hot cocoa, coffee, or tea—upon reaching Bear Hill, where you'll hear about the history of the area. Be sure to bring your camera, as there will be plenty of opportunities to capture the wintry landscape.
