After a 20-minute drive from our Three Rivers Airbnb, we arrived at Potwisha Campground in Sequoia. Scott set up chairs and a telescope, offering an excellent introduction to the night sky. He helped the kids grasp how our solar system and galaxy fit into the universe. Scott was friendly and great with the kids, using a powerful laser pointer to clearly identify stars, which was extremely useful. I highly recommend this as a fantastic educational experience for families.
This tour was outstanding. Scott's expertise about the forest, combined with his friendly demeanor, truly made our snowshoeing day the best part of our camping experience in Sequoia National Park. His insights on the trees, local history, and wildlife enhanced our adventure far beyond what we could have achieved alone. We strongly endorse this tour.
We thoroughly enjoyed our snowshoeing adventure with Scot at Sequoia National Park. Our family, consisting of two adults and three children aged 8 to 14, created unforgettable memories. Scot was incredibly patient with my daughter's playful antics, very knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. When we faced some unexpected delays, he kindly extended our tour. Our snowshoeing experience was excellent. Although it is a workout, he selected a trail suitable for everyone. Scot took the time to share interesting facts about the local wildlife, trees, and ecosystem. I wholeheartedly recommend Big Trees Tours and Scot for anyone wanting to explore the Sequoias.
Our family of four had an outstanding private tour of the Sequoias with Scott. From the beginning, he made us feel safe and was well-prepared, outlining what we would experience during our two hours together. The insights he provided about the Sequoias, national park history, environmental conservation, and the beauty of the forest were remarkable. His personal stories enriched the experience. Starting our visit with this tour helped us fully appreciate and understand the park throughout our stay. Scott's expertise as a biology major, his work with black bears, and nature experience shone through, especially when addressing the many questions from our 12-year-old son. The pace of the tour was just right; it was an enjoyable walk down to General Sherman, and Scott prepared us for the uphill return, which was great for our mindset. He reminded us to stay hydrated due to the elevation, and when our daughter felt a bit unwell, he assessed her condition and ensured she was okay before continuing. Another highlight was Scott’s exceptional photography skills. While we didn’t buy the photo package available on his website, he captured stunning images with my cell phone during the tour. He knew the best spots for photos, creating beautiful memories for us. We look forward to booking more tours with him, including snowshoeing in winter and an Astronomy Night Tour on our next visit. We strongly recommend Scott and Big Tree Tours.
When in Sequoia, make sure to book the Big Trees Telescope Tour with Scott. It was a standout experience during our trip. Scott, a former park ranger, possesses remarkable knowledge. He shared captivating stories and facts about the park, including information on black bears, and it was clear he is passionate about his work. He is kind and patient, making the experience feel unique and personal. The telescope tour was incredible—viewing the planets against the dark Sequoia skies was a memory that will last. He communicated everything in an engaging and easy-to-follow manner. Although his company is relatively new, it won’t remain a hidden gem for much longer. I highly recommend it.
Scott was wonderful, bringing a wealth of knowledge about the Sequoias and the park's history, which made for an enjoyable experience. Despite the mist and rain, I loved every moment. I've already shared his hiking tour with friends and family.
The experience was disappointing due to poor communication and no designated meeting point. We got somewhat lost and were advised to take our time, but after that, we didn't hear from them again. Despite this, we enjoyed the hike through a beautiful forest and even spotted black bears. It would have been helpful to have some guidance, so I recommend doing the free hike and then deciding whether to donate to the park.
