Anang Nasir picked me up at Star Breeze port in Semarang and took me to the Buddhist temple, where we conversed about Java and Florida. Although my husband wasn't feeling well, Anang was an exceptionally polite and articulate young man. He inquired about my favorite music, and we enjoyed songs by the Temptations and Akon during the ride. He pointed out various highlights, and on our return, he kindly stopped to get some mangosteen fruit for my husband. At the temple, Anang introduced me to a knowledgeable guide who detailed the temple's history and the surrounding flora. Anang truly transformed a lengthy journey into an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this trip and the guide.

Our experience at Borobudur Temple was fantastic. We got there ahead of the Holland America buses, allowing us to explore the temple with our guide in a small group of five, which was exceptional.
Borobudur, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is absolutely a must-visit. As the largest Buddhist temple globally, it is breathtaking. Our journey from Semarang port took over two hours with EKO, an exceptional driver guide who spoke excellent English and provided engaging conversation. Given the lengthy drive, having a knowledgeable and enjoyable guide was invaluable. The ascent to the temple’s summit can be challenging in the heat, but the official guides at the site share fascinating stories, and the views from the top are incredible. This was the highlight of our trip to Indonesia, and I highly recommend it.
We chose this tour over the one provided by our cruise line so we could travel directly to Borobudur Temple and have more control over our schedule. We departed an hour later than the cruise group and returned 1.5 hours before them. It was definitely worth the cost. Our driver, Thoriq, was excellent—arriving on time, helping us with ticketing until we joined the Borobudur tour, and waiting for us afterward. He even stopped for cold water when we requested it. I highly recommend this experience and Thoriq.
I had a wonderful day visiting Borobudur temple from Semarang. Atok, my guide, arrived slightly early at my hotel, even though he travels over two hours. He was very friendly, easy to reach, and communicated clearly in excellent English through WhatsApp before the trip. The traffic was favorable, allowing us to travel from my hotel to the temple in just two hours, departing at 8 am and returning around 3 pm. Atok proved to be a skilled driver, despite the unique driving style in Indonesia. The tour was well-organized in groups of fifteen, with a one-hour visit to the temple's upper areas. The agency handled ticket bookings efficiently, but make sure to reserve in advance since access to the upper part is limited. I highly recommend this experience.

Our driver, Yuni, was at the port entrance ahead of schedule. Despite the construction and traffic, he navigated quickly and got us on our way faster than anticipated. During the drive, Yuni provided a wealth of knowledge about the culture, religion, local lifestyle, and history. Upon reaching Borobudur Monument, everything proceeded seamlessly. He dropped us off and efficiently guided us to the entrance. Since my husband required a wheelchair for longer distances, this was very convenient, and Yuni assisted us throughout the park. Though he couldn't accompany us inside the Monument due to strict regulations, he waited patiently for us at the exit. The return journey to the port took slightly longer, but we arrived back safely with ample time to spare. Yuni even stopped to help us purchase an avocado for dinner later. He was a wonderful guide, and I highly recommend him.
