The experience was lacking. We opted for the open air bus, expecting a guided tour, but there was none on the top deck. We specifically wanted to learn about Seattle and the areas we hadn't visited, making this a disappointing experience, especially since it will be our last visit to the city.
The service was extremely disappointing. We were informed that there were only two buses for the day, leading to long waits of 45 minutes to an hour. Once on the bus, we found it odd that we couldn't hear any commentary about the sights. When the audio finally activated, it was difficult to hear over the noise of the bus. Additionally, the driver ran two red traffic lights, making us feel unsafe with a full bus of tourists and no seat belts. Overall, I would not recommend this experience to anyone. The only positive was the friendly ticket seller at the beginning, who was cheerful and did well in her role.
After waiting over an hour, the first bus was already full. The driver was unfriendly and slammed the doors on us when we nicely inquired about the next bus. The second bus arrived 15 minutes later, and after boarding at stop 11, we had to wait 15 minutes at stop 13. At the final stop at the Space Needle, we were instructed to disembark and then re-board since it would not leave for another hour. We later tried to get on the first bus that was about to leave, which had only standing space, but were informed it was out of service. Everyone was then told to get off. It was a frustrating experience. Proceed with caution.
The experience was unsatisfactory. It was overcrowded, and there weren't enough buses. The listed stops were incorrect, and we had to wait over 80 minutes to find out where to meet. It was a complete mess. I recommend choosing a different tour.
During our visit to Seattle on May 10, 2026, we had a very disappointing experience with the Hop On Hop Off tour. It was our first time in the city, and it negatively affected what should have been an enjoyable day. We started at the Space Needle and got off at the Seattle Aquarium/Great Wheel stop around 10:15 a.m., planning to catch the next bus at approximately 10:45 a.m. Instead, we waited for around one and a half hours without any meaningful updates on the delays. As someone with sciatica in my right hip, standing for such a long time was extremely uncomfortable and made the experience quite distressing. When the bus finally arrived, things worsened. We found out that only two buses were in service. After reaching Chinatown, our bus malfunctioned because the back door wouldn't close. We were left on board with little communication from the driver, receiving updates only because another passenger contacted customer service. Eventually, a mechanic needed to be called. The overcrowding was severe, leading to passengers at several stops unable to board. We witnessed many frustrated travelers who had waited over two hours. With only two buses running, we were hesitant to get off. Feeling uncertain about the service's reliability, we decided to end our tour early at Pike Place Market—our second stop—despite the ticket stating a '30 minute frequency.' We then had to pay extra for a taxi to continue our day. Overall, the service fell far short of what was advertised and did not meet reasonable expectations for a paid tourist experience. The long delays, lack of communication, overcrowding, mechanical issues, and poor organization turned a potential sightseeing adventure into a frustrating and painful ordeal. I would rate this experience zero stars if possible.
This tour is not worth it. I've taken many hop-on hop-off services worldwide and have never encountered such awful service. With four cruise ships in port and only one bus operating due to one driver's absence and a broken bus, we paid for two days but managed only one trip. The bus stopped for 30 to 60 minutes at just one location. After waiting over 90 minutes, we found no seats available. The open-top bus was out of service, leaving us in a covered bus with no views. We ended up walking, which was actually better as most attractions are within walking distance. Unfortunately, the disclaimer ensures no refunds for this terrible experience. It was a major letdown with no apologies from the service. An Uber would have been a more efficient choice for a fraction of the cost. Seattle needs to improve this.
We chose not to participate in this tour after reviewing the feedback. It appears that the owner does not prioritize offering quality service, and simply apologizing is insufficient.
There were only two buses available, and after waiting all day and walking from place to place, we never managed to board one. I'm planning to attempt getting on first thing this morning.
We were instructed to go to the incorrect bus pickup location, which was incredibly frustrating given my husband's mobility issues. When we located the correct spot, the bus was overcrowded, making the ride uncomfortable and preventing us from enjoying the sights. It felt like a complete waste of time and money.
Finding the signs for the stops was challenging, leading us to ask a local shop owner, who said it was “confusing.” The sales representative mentioned there were only two buses operating that day, arriving every 45 minutes, and they stopped at 4 pm, only running from 10 am to 4 pm. We completed the full circuit, which had a nice route, but the onboard narrated speakers were barely audible. Our experience was very disappointing.
