This two-hour jeep adventure takes you through the rugged landscapes of the Upper Sonoran Desert en route to a historic gold mine, where you’ll walk the same veins that 19th-century prospector Old Rackensack followed. The ride features photo stops highlighting the local flora and fauna, along with educational commentary about the archaeological Indian ruins in Rackensack Canyon.
You'll be guided by a certified off-road desert expert in a Custom Jeep Gladiator, built for both comfort and safety. Refreshments are provided at the Summit Studio/Giftshop before heading to the mine. Dress for the weather, as tours operate rain or shine.

Rebel, our guide, was enjoyable and informative throughout the tour. While the drive up the switchbacks was occasionally frightening due to the lack of guardrails, our driver was experienced with the roads. The mine owners were also very gracious and welcoming.

The Gold Mine Tour with Rackensack Canyon Tours was an incredible experience. We visited Tanto National Forest and an authentic old gold mine. Our guide, Rebel, was both friendly and knowledgeable, providing thorough answers to all our inquiries. Charles and Ginger were hospitable, and our children even had the chance to learn how to lasso. The tour's three-hour duration felt just right. I would highly recommend this tour to others.
