Our two days with Pep were nothing short of magical. The first day included touring Silicon Valley, Monterey, and Carmel. It was fascinating to see Apple's, Facebook's, and Google's campuses. We continued to Monterey and Carmel, experienced Big Sur, and drove the 17-mile route, stopping frequently for photos that Pep took. Day two focused on San Francisco and Sausalito, featuring a comprehensive city tour followed by a trip over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, where we enjoyed lunch with a water view. We were able to visit numerous sites that the larger tour buses couldn’t reach. We made it back to our ship well in time for sailing. I highly recommend Pep and Alegro Tours.

I was disappointed with the experience. I had my heart set on this tour before arriving in San Francisco, only to find out that private tours were the only option at this time of year. We booked a tour through Viator that appeared to have a wonderful itinerary, but with just days to go, there was still no confirmation or communication from the guide. This set a negative tone right from the start, so we had to reach out ourselves. On the day of the tour, there were delays, and we were informed that a different vehicle would be used. This ended up being a positive change since the Tesla mentioned in the earlier communication would have been too cramped for the distance we planned to cover. As we began our journey, the guide attempted to outline the route, but I quickly noticed that she intended to take us through Silicon Valley and onward to Monterey. This was not what we had booked and paid for, as I wanted to follow the stops highlighted on the Viator website. She suggested that the itinerary was merely a recommendation and not set in stone, but there was no indication of that in the information provided. After a heated discussion, she finally agreed to follow the itinerary as per my printed copy. Unfortunately, even with that agreement, the tour turned into a rushed experience where we had to skip the suggested hour to hour-and-a-half stops. We did at least travel along Highway 1 and enjoy the beautiful coast, despite her initial plan to take us on the interstate. I strongly advise anyone taking this tour to familiarize themselves with the itinerary, or else risk having a very short day with only a few stops, rather than fully experiencing the stunning views of Highway 1.
