Hadi was a fantastic guide, full of knowledge. I initially feared the tour would be rushed, but we actually had ample time to explore and enjoy each experience without hurrying from one location to another. The little bus was clean and comfortable, and we were fortunate to be the only guests, allowing us to adjust our itinerary as needed. We opted out of the rainforest walk because of the rain and chose to spend extra time with the proboscis monkeys.
Mr. Hadi, our guide, and the driver were fantastic. They were very friendly and accommodating, adjusting the itinerary to fit our schedule since we had a flight to catch, yet managed to include all activities in one day. Mr. Hadi's expertise in the rainforest was evident, as we were fortunate to see all the animals mentioned in the tour, plus a few extras. Hadi, my tour guide, turned this day-long adventure into an unforgettable experience. As a Sandakan native with 30 years of tour experience, he can answer any questions about orangutans, sun bears, and proboscis monkeys in great detail. The car was comfortable, and Hadi's friendly demeanor and fluent English made the tour enjoyable. Seeing the orangutans behave like humans was astonishing. The Borneo sun bears were intriguing, but the proboscis monkeys were my favorite. I was amazed to see their harem of wives and children follow them everywhere, and I even witnessed some natural behaviors happening right in front of me. You won't regret taking this tour with Hadi. An enjoyable experience to observe a diverse range of animals in their natural environments up close. The guide was approachable and supportive throughout the tour.
Faisal was an outgoing and knowledgeable guide, and he made sure we were at the perfect spots at ideal times. We opted out of the rainforest research center because of the weather. The monkeys were worth the trip, even if they were a bit distant, and we even spotted a hornbill up close.
Our guide and driver were incredibly friendly, and since it was just the two of us, we enjoyed a private tour. Although the guide's English could be challenging at times, he was very informative and accommodating. During our jungle trek, I accidentally dropped my phone through the walkway slats into the lake. I thought it was lost forever, but our guide Jackie, who knows the rangers well, got two of them to help retrieve it. They went into the water, with one even diving completely underwater, and after about 15 minutes, they found my phone in the muddy lake bed. Remarkably, it was in perfect working order. I was truly impressed by everyone's friendliness and dedication. It was a slightly traumatic but ultimately positive conclusion to an amazing day filled with the beauty of the jungle. I highly recommend this experience.
There are plenty of orangutans to see! While my phone camera didn’t capture the best pictures, the views were fantastic in person. It's wise to bring water since it gets hot. Also, no bags are allowed since the orangutans might try to grab them!
We had a fantastic time on this adventure! With just my family and the guide, we could move at our own speed. Our guide made sure we witnessed the feedings of the orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and other wildlife. We experienced so much animal activity. Jackie, our guide, was exceptional—very friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and great at spotting hornbills, snakes, and more.
