Three hours of kayaking from Anacortes — explore the unique shorelines of Burrows Island with professionally trained guides.
This guided kayak tour takes place in the scenic waters surrounding Burrows Island, departing from Anacortes. As the only kayak company with trips to this location, you’ll explore jagged shorelines that most tourists miss. The expedition lasts three hours and is designed to maximize your time on the water without the need for a lengthy ferry ride.
Guided by trained professionals, the tour is suitable for participants aged 18 and over. Single kayaks can be rented for an extra $25 each, but it's necessary to request this in advance as availability is limited. Dress appropriately for a day on the water and be prepared to encounter local wildlife along the way.

We thoroughly enjoyed our kayaking experience with Emma as our guide. The scenery was breathtaking, and we encountered various marine life during the trip. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore the San Juan Islands by kayak.
We went on the three-hour tour on Sunday with Shelem and were absolutely amazed. The wildlife we encountered, including seals, a bald eagle, and a distant humpback whale, was stunning. Shelem, our guide, shared a wealth of fascinating information about the currents, kayaking, and the animals we saw. Overall, a perfect experience—10/10! We plan to return! Hugo & Sarah
After reading other fantastic reviews, I booked a tour for my mom and me, led by our guide Shelem. I felt compelled to share my experience shortly after we finished. Shelem provided informative commentary and was both knowledgeable and engaging. It was our first time kayaking in the ocean, and my mom, at 70, found it exhilarating. Being out on the water was truly humbling. Throughout the tour, Shelem shared extensive information about both terrestrial and marine wildlife, as well as environmental aspects, making the experience enjoyable. We were fortunate to spot seals, porpoises, and bald eagles, although wildlife sightings can vary. While paddling was generally peaceful, it did get exhilarating in some rougher patches. Shelem's guidance and navigation tips were outstanding. I highly recommend this tour, and I appreciate the great spots for wildlife photography that Shelem shared with us. It created lasting memories with my mom. A fantastic tour experience!
Emma, our guide, was exceptional and truly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights during our kayaking experience. We even sampled some seaweed straight from the water. We spotted various sea animals and birds and thoroughly enjoyed the outing. I highly recommend both Emma and Anacortes Kayak Tours.
What a fantastic experience! Derek was entertaining and informative. It was definitely a workout! We will return and look forward to doing it again.
This was a fantastic experience. Both the views and the staff exceeded my expectations. The beach provided an excellent launching point, making it simple for my family to get in and out of the kayaks. I was particularly impressed by the staff's unlimited patience and expertise about the region.
We organized a kayaking team-building event for 18 people that lasted three hours starting at 8:30 am, and it was ideal. Everyone felt positive and delighted by the experience. Our group utilized 2-3 person kayaks and six 2-person kayaks, taking frequent breaks for learning and hydration. We spotted harbor seals, harbor porpoises, three bald eagles, blue herons, and sea stars. The water was calm, making the event accessible for everyone involved. The staff were professional and supportive, with Megan, the owner, ensuring everything was in order ahead of time to streamline our day. For team building, it offered a great chance to engage with those on our kayak as well as others nearby. There were plenty of opportunities for photos and valuable time on the water to connect and collaborate while steering the kayaks.
We enjoyed a three-hour kayaking adventure, despite being newcomers to sea kayaking. Our guide Gwen handled everything and provided excellent instructions. The time passed quickly as we explored the old Lighthouse, observed sea birds, and watched harbor seals. It was a beautiful day with ideal weather. Gwen was fantastic—relaxed, knowledgeable, and entertaining. We highly recommend this experience and would participate in another AKT trip if we return to the area.
The experience was truly enjoyable, and the communication was excellent. I made a last-minute booking, and they reached out to inform me of a strong current, suggesting we might have a better time the next morning. I really valued their honesty and flexibility. We rescheduled for the following morning and had a fantastic kayak outing with Caleb.
We had a fantastic three-hour kayaking trip in mid-October. Our guide, Leo, was excellent and very informed about the local plants and animals. We spotted a wide variety of birds, harbor seals, and harbor porpoises. I highly recommend this experience.
