An Apple device is required for the tour, which isn't made clear until after you pay the non-refundable fee. I couldn't get it to work on my iPad and eventually gave up. It seemed like a good idea, but the experience was frustrating.
This experience was enjoyable, featuring captivating facts and stories about major tech companies. My only suggestion is that the starting instructions should indicate to turn left out of the park. Afterwards, the directions were excellent.
The tour was fantastic for our tech-loving family with young children. Being unfamiliar with the area made it challenging to manage driving and listening to the details simultaneously. We used a separate phone for navigation so we could enjoy the tour without missing any exits. Having a list of the stops sent via email would enhance the experience. Despite this, we appreciated the wealth of information and unique stories, like visiting Steve Jobs' Garage. Later on, we realized we could re-listen to the recordings when we weren't driving. We stopped to explore the Google campus, including the Google Visitor Center, Google store, sculptures, Droids, and Google Cafe, along with the Apple campus. At the Apple Visitor Center, we enjoyed taking photos from the balcony overlooking the Apple spaceship building. The model and 3D views on the iPAD were exciting for the kids, as were the demonstrations of new iPhone models and other gadgets. The Apple Cafe was delightful, contributing to our overall enjoyment of the tour.
This tour comes highly recommended for anyone with limited time looking to experience the tech campuses in Silicon Valley. The tour includes major companies such as Apple, Google, Meta, and Amazon (AWS). The app is user-friendly. There was a minor issue where it didn't redirect us to the guided tour, which caused us to repeat some areas, but it wasn't overly inconvenient.
We participated in this tour as a family with our two older teenage sons. The commentary greatly enriched our experience while exploring Silicon Valley. It was certainly more enjoyable than trying to create our own itinerary. The tour lasted about four hours, including a coffee and cake break at Google, which I highly recommend over the options at Apple, along with a visit to the Apple visitor center. We skipped Stanford and the computer museum since we had already been there. The directions were clear, although the app did crash a couple of times; restarting was straightforward and we easily picked up where we left off. Overall, I highly recommend this app.
The narration is informative and good. However, there should be better advanced warnings for upcoming turns or exits, as it can be frustrating to backtrack when feeling lost. It seems this app requires two people—one to drive and another to provide timely alerts.
Our family, including some tech enthusiasts, found this tour to be quite valuable. We skipped a few sections that didn't interest us much, but enjoyed exploring different locations. While we could have researched independently, this tour saved us time and let us learn interesting facts about significant companies while enjoying the sights. If you're already familiar with them, the information might not be groundbreaking, but the organized itinerary is a time-saver and definitely adds value. There were places we would have missed without the tour.
It's essential to stay focused on the directions and to have a companion who can navigate; having a reliable co-pilot is crucial.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience with this type of tour. We had a fantastic time, visited all the key sights, and gained a lot of knowledge. I would certainly recommend it.
The audio tour is well-narrated and informative, but the area itself is quite underwhelming. Many places are spread out, and several attractions listed in the audio are either closed or relocated. We anticipated access to more companies, but only Apple was available to us.
