Three hours by shuttle — visit Antelope Island State Park for a guided stargazing session with red-filtered lighting to enhance visibility.
This guided stargazing tour takes you from Salt Lake City to Antelope Island State Park, a certified International Dark Sky Park. The tour spans three hours, giving you ample time to view the cosmos away from city lights. Comfortable shuttle transportation is provided, and you'll enjoy red-filtered lighting to minimize light pollution while your guide highlights constellations, planets, and other celestial wonders.
The experience is weather-dependent and runs during spring, summer, and fall. Note that this tour is not wheelchair accessible, so plan accordingly. As you settle in to watch the night sky, prepare to be enchanted by the views of the Milky Way and other celestial objects often masked by urban illumination.
Reviews
We had a fantastic time on Antelope Island. The guides were very knowledgeable, and there were plenty of stars to see. We even learned how to navigate by the stars.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Antelope Island Dark Sky Experience with Southwest Adventure Tours. Our guides, McKenna and Scott, were excellent—friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable. They encouraged questions and clearly loved sharing their insights about the area and the night sky. The evening was stunning, with Antelope Island providing the ideal backdrop for this experience. Both guides created a relaxed and engaging atmosphere while still being informative. It was a memorable night and a unique way to appreciate Utah's beauty. We left with wonderful memories and highly recommend this tour to visitors in the Salt Lake area.
The stars were stunning, and the guides showed great expertise. I appreciated the use of a laser pointer to highlight features when the telescope wasn't in use. It can get a bit windy and chilly, so it's wise to dress in layers or bring an extra jacket.
