Seeing a river flow in reverse was unbelievable, and I'm grateful we experienced it ourselves. Our guide, Steve, utilized his local knowledge to maximize our time on this extensive tour of St John and the Bay of Fundy. He even shared a photo of himself with Prince Charles from a Canadian tour. With his white beard and festive attire, he also takes on the role of Santa Claus during Christmas. Our adventure began and ended at the Reversing Falls, where we first saw the River St John flowing normally, and then experienced the incredible tidal flow of the Bay of Fundy pushing the river upstream as the grand finale. The tour included various photo opportunities around the bay, and one highlight was enjoying a Lobster Roll and a Moosehead beer at the Caves Restaurant, topped off with ice cream from the aptly named Octopus Ice Cream shop. It was a memorable day, and we left with many cherished memories. Thank you, Steve.
Myla, our tour guide, was punctual, friendly, and very attentive. Her passion for the experience was evident. We gained insights into the local history of St. John, and witnessing the astonishing power of the tides was a highlight. She illustrated the contrasts between low and high tide on the St. John River, then further in St. Martin, highlighted the tide's impact on the caves and beach. The seafood lunch in St. Martin was excellent, with the vegetarian option also very satisfying. We accidentally left our water bottle in the van, but they kindly arranged to return it to our hotel later that day. We wholeheartedly endorse Abdul and his tour guide.
Finding Steve at the cruise port terminal was pure luck after our last-minute car rental plans fell through. We had an incredible time with him and wholeheartedly recommend his tour. As an 8th generation local, he takes you to all the hidden gems. The experience is both educational and engaging. Steve is truly remarkable, and I would happily join his tour every time we visit St. John.
Steve, our guide, was friendly and provided a lot of information. We had a great time on our tour, which included exploring the town, visiting the reverse rapids, and then heading to the Bay of Fundy.
The van that picked us up was in poor condition and dirty, contrasting sharply with the nice black SUV shown in the advertisement for our costly private tour. While the driver was friendly, he preferred silence over conversation, which was disappointing since we expected to engage during the tour. I do not recommend this experience.
Steve, a local with extensive knowledge of Saint John's highlights, was quirky and somewhat entertaining. He was accommodating and helpful throughout our excursion. We had arranged for a vehicle and driver, specifically requesting a child seat in advance, but Steve had to return to the office because he wasn't informed about this need. The van wasn't his, and it was in poor condition, being filthy, scratched, and dented, with a rear license plate that was falling off. The child seat was also dirty and took us some time to clean for our toddler. Steve shared insights about his background and informed us about the day's itinerary. He drove us to the Bay of Fundy for lunch, where the chowder, shrimp, and fish and chips were quite good. He was relaxed with no pressure, though he sometimes overdid the humor in trying to entertain us. We made a brief stop at Moosehead Brewery for photos with a mounted moose, but there was no tour or sampling involved. Overall, we enjoyed the sightseeing and driving through the stunning landscapes of New Brunswick.
