Five hours by minibus — visit the Bay of Fundy, sea caves, historical fishing villages, and Canada’s oldest farmers market.
This five-hour minibus tour from Saint John takes you to the Bay of Fundy, known for having the highest tides in the world. You'll explore historical fishing villages and, depending on the tide, access wave-carved sea caves in the sandstone cliffs, a scenic opportunity for photographers.
Part of the itinerary includes a stop at the oldest farmers market in Canada, established in 1876, where you can sample local produce and perhaps pick up a mug of the renowned seafood chowder. The tour is designed for smaller groups, providing a more intimate experience compared to larger cruise excursions.

The tour guide was late and did not pay attention to our cruise ship's arrival schedule, leaving us waiting in the bus. Most of her commentary was focused on her own experiences rather than providing historical insights about the Brunswick Shore or Saint John. She merely pointed out the cave without taking us inside, while my friend's tour included a visit to the cave with provided rain boots, creating wonderful memories. Our tour was also twice the price of theirs. Overall, I felt the cost was too high given the quality of the tour guide.
Jonathan was an excellent tour guide. The bus was clean and easy to access. We had a great day, including a meal at a lovely seafood restaurant by the water. The historic city tour covered all the major sites.
We had an excellent guide during our tour. The standout moment was witnessing the reversing falls, and the autumn foliage was stunning.
We were able to visit numerous sites during our time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I strongly recommend this tour and area for exploring and experiencing the region.
Kevin and Jo-Jo were fantastic. We had an enjoyable day with them that far exceeded the cruise line's offerings. We learned a lot, had fun, and witnessed the impressive water level changes. We also enjoyed some of the best ice cream and later had delicious soup.
The experience offered little enjoyment, with a long and uncomfortable journey in a cramped converted school bus. After a few hours, the only highlight was observing the river's changing flow. While the guide was informed about the sites, she often spoke about her personal life, which was not what I anticipated for such an expensive tour. I requested a partial refund but only received a small fraction of the cost back and intend to dispute it further.
The experience was acceptable. The tour operator was excellent, and I have no issues on that front. However, the day lacked excitement. I had hoped for more activities at the port, but there isn’t much available.
We were unable to reach our driver. After waiting for a 10:00 pick-up, we ended up booking an alternative at 10:45 that wasn't our preferred choice.
This port was extremely disappointing. Transportation options were limited; no Ubers and taxis were rare, unmarked, and costly. Our driver, who spoke no English, took us to the wrong location, leaving us without a way to return. One driver informed us that there aren't enough cabs for the number of cruise passengers. While we eventually reached the city market and parks, there was very little of interest, aside from a few homeless people that made the area feel unsafe. We did enjoy a decent lunch at an Irish pub, but overall, the visit was lackluster. The 506 container district near the port felt like a tourist trap. I recommend skipping this stop or remaining on the ship. It's not worth the trouble.
Trina, our tour guide, and Hans, the bus driver, were both wonderful and friendly, with no complaints about them. However, the bus was clean but uncomfortably loud with a squealing sound throughout the ride. The issue with the meet-up time was frustrating; we only received that information at 3:07 am on the day of the tour after three weeks of inquiries via email, which went unanswered. The communication from the tour company suggested we arrive between 9 and 11 am, which was confusing. We showed up at 8:30 am to avoid any issues, but at least ten others arrived late due to this unclear timing. The start time should have been clearly stated as 9 am, with a recommendation to arrive 15 minutes early, rather than the vague "9-11" window. The company, Hugo, should have communicated much earlier than the morning of the tour.
