After the tastings, I transitioned to the diner area and had a delicious burger and chips. I even treated myself to a bottle of Black Max, which has a delightful story behind its name.

Unlike the larger wineries that feature expansive, upscale tasting rooms, Deer Run offers a more intimate experience with a small and welcoming staff. It felt like we were sitting in a cozy kitchen as we enjoyed two flights accompanied by small bowls of cheese curds, Lindt chocolate, and mini peanut butter cups, along with information about the wine pairings and characteristics. On a vibrant fall Friday, the winery was quite empty, so the atmosphere felt less lively with just the two of us sipping and savoring. Nonetheless, it was a delightful experience, and we left with a couple of bottles of red wine.
