My recent visit to the Corning Museum of Glass was quite disappointing. I remembered having a great experience in the past, but this time the information provided was unclear. Upon arriving, it wasn't obvious where to park, and the staff at the Visitors Center were unhelpful. The man at the information desk seemed indifferent and simply pointed in a direction. After we bought our tickets, we discovered that the main highlight—watching the glassmakers at work—was closed. Many visitors come specifically for that. A small area offered a glass-blowing demonstration, but it was crowded and many people couldn't see anything. It felt like the museum lacked planning or effort to present itself well. I hope they make improvements, as it truly is a fascinating and one-of-a-kind place.
After five years of planning, I finally visited this museum and it was well worth the wait. The exhibits showcased centuries of glassmaking history, each one more exquisite than the last. I spent over three hours marveling at the artists' creativity. It's a unique experience that I highly recommend for anyone visiting with family and friends.
The location is easily accessible and offers a pleasant and informative experience. There are convenient hotels nearby with shuttle service, along with access to other museums, shopping, and dining options.
It's a lovely location. While modern art glass isn't my preference, I found many other pieces to be stunning. I really enjoyed the store and even completed my Christmas shopping there.
We marked a portion of our anniversary at the Corning Museum and had a wonderful experience. Touring the museum and gift shop was enjoyable, and the etching class at The Studio was both fun and memorable. We took our creations home. The artists' sale that weekend was a highlight for us, as we found several great pieces at fantastic prices. Being there during Corning's Sparkle Weekend added an extra touch to our visit.
Get ready for some walking. They provide small stools for your convenience. It’s quite informative and engaging. The glass crafting activities come with an additional cost and are somewhat expensive, but it's definitely a unique experience.
Over the past 20 years, we have visited three times, and each experience has been enjoyable. It's a lovely spot for a post-holiday break, with an excellent museum tour, downtown shopping, and a nice dinner at the cellar to wrap up the evening.
My sister and I chose the Corning Museum of Glass for a weekend trip, having not visited since our early adulthood. We were delighted with our decision, especially since one of us used a knee scooter due to a recent injury, which allowed us to assess the museum's accessibility. The experience was fantastic, and we even participated in the optional make your own project. The staff demonstrated excellent customer service, being both efficient and friendly, from admissions to the gift shop and the instructors. Everything in the museum was well-maintained, with no missing or broken displays, and the exhibit explanations were detailed and engaging. The spaciousness meant it never felt crowded. We explored all areas, including 35 centuries of glass, the Innovation/Science section, and the contemporary art exhibit, moving seamlessly with the scooter and wheelchair. Despite our mobility limitations, we didn't miss a thing. Kudos to the Glass Center staff and the locals for their attentiveness and warm hospitality.
As enthusiasts of glass art, we found this experience exceptional. The gift shop is definitely worth the trip by itself. The museum features a range of exhibits explaining the history of glassmaking, including a glass-breaking demonstration and a historical overview of various glass eras and decorations. Additionally, there are glass-blowing demonstrations, and for an extra fee, you can create your own glass art.
I highly recommend this experience; the service and attention from all staff, including the exceptional security personnel, were consistently helpful.
