George Eastman Museum

The George Eastman Museum is the world’s oldest photography museum, housed in the former mansion of George Eastman, founder of Kodak, built in 1905. The museum features a comprehensive collection of photographs, cameras, and film technology, as well as beautifully landscaped gardens that reflect the grandeur of its late 19th-century origins. Allow a couple of hours to explore the exhibits highlighting photography’s evolution, including the iconic work of Ansel Adams. The museum is located near Rochester’s cultural district, making it easy to combine your visit with stops at the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Strong National Museum of Play.
