Two hours in the Shockoe Bottom neighbourhood — visit historic pubs, taste local ciders, and hear ghost stories of the area.
This guided haunted pub crawl takes you through the historic Shockoe Bottom area of Richmond over the course of two hours. You’ll visit some of the best clubs and pubs, each housed in historic structures, while tasting local favourites like Farmhouse hard cider.
Along the way, the tour shares intriguing ghost stories, including accounts of the four spirits said to wander St. John's Church. Each stop adds a unique flavour to the evening, combining local drink tastings with a glimpse into the eerie history of these establishments.

The host was informative and engaging, but we were let down that nearly all the locations were shut. We visited only one place during the pub crawl, which was disappointing since we couldn't experience most of the venues.
I wanted to do something enjoyable with my group while exploring my new hometown of Richmond. Our tour guide was fantastic, and the stops were incredible. It was the perfect way to spend a night without the stress of planning, just going along with the experience.
We had a personal tour with just my husband and me, which was fantastic. Our guide, whose name I can't recall, was very informative and answered all our questions while showing us a few extra places. I'm really glad we chose to go on this tour.
We visited just a single pub and did not return to our starting point. One of the pubs on the itinerary was closed, and the ghost stories were more like vague hearsay rather than actual tales.
The experience didn't meet my expectations. We visited only one local brewery, and the area lacked sufficient material for an engaging haunted experience. The guide made an effort, but his enthusiasm was lacking. There was a lot of walking, few refreshments, and not much interesting information. Looking back, I wish I had just spent the $60 visiting a couple of pubs instead.
Mars serves as an excellent tour guide. She is approachable, polite, and well-informed. Her greatest asset is her ability to prompt the group to share their experiences.
Bob was extremely knowledgeable, and his stories were captivating, truly bringing Richmond to life. We also met some great people on the tour who became friends. It was an outstanding experience, and we strongly recommend it to future groups.
The concept was appealing, with a fascinating town and intriguing stories, but it ultimately fell short. One of the pubs was closed, and while the guide was nice, he didn't engage us much. We only visited one pub, which was overcrowded for our group of ten.
This tour was fantastic! Abby was an excellent guide, full of knowledge about Richmond's history. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore the city while learning about its spooky past. I highly recommend it and would love to experience it again during my next visit.
Mars was an exceptional guide who made our experience truly memorable. He was very personable and informative, and we had a lot of fun. The drink stops were excellent, and my wife even mentioned that two of them were on her bucket list. The stories and historical context added depth to each location, and the other group members were wonderful too. It was a fantastic time!
