This experience is worth considering for a nighttime activity. We had a group of nine adults, and it's suitable for families. On the positive side, we observed a decent variety of wildlife, including two crocodiles, a snake, a sloth, two species of bats, and numerous birds, while also learning about different tree types. If you’ve been very active during your time in Costa Rica, this offers a nice change of pace, and the dinner served was quite good. However, there are some drawbacks: the tour started later than expected; not everyone had their own flashlight, and some were brighter than others; the lights attracted many bugs; and the restaurant was very warm since it lacked air conditioning. Be sure to sit at the front, as our guide mainly stayed there, and while they did walk through the aisle, it may be harder to hear from the back. Overall, I feel it’s a bit expensive, but there aren’t many nighttime options available in the area.
I was assured that my mobility device could be accommodated. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the extensive gravel lot was not accessible for my electric scooter, and I cannot walk more than two or three steps. We were driven back home, and I had to reach out for a refund, which I eventually received. While I was disappointed, I appreciated the refund.
The tour of the mangroves at night was an interesting experience, but it didn’t quite meet our expectations. We observed fewer animals than anticipated. Additionally, although it stated a 5:30 start time, our guide didn't show up until 6:00, and we departed at 6:17, which could be made clearer. With 18 people on the boat, it was challenging to see out one side. The dinner, which was acceptable, was 15 minutes away, and the advertisement could include more details. That’s why I rated it a 3 instead of a 5.
