Two days and one night — an 18 km trek through Corcovado, overnight at Sirena Station, followed by a scenic boat ride back to Puerto Jiménez.
This two-day trek begins at La Leona Ranger Station and leads you 18 km through Corcovado National Park, where wildlife abounds, including monkeys, scarlet macaws, and tapirs. The journey culminates at the remote Sirena Biological Station, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by the unfiltered sounds of the rainforest.
The following morning, explore the trails around Sirena before boarding a boat back to Puerto Jiménez. The boat ride offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the chance to spot dolphins or sea turtles along the way. The trek is conducted in small groups with certified local guides, ensuring a personal and in-depth encounter with the rich biodiversity of the Osa Peninsula.
Reviews
I strongly recommend this tour. We were fortunate to have Carlos as our guide; he is truly exceptional. His passion for nature shines through in his knowledge and professionalism. Carlos engages with keen insight, making the experience both fascinating and enjoyable. During our two-day hiking adventure, with an overnight stay at a beautiful jungle camp, we started with a boat ride into the park followed by a morning walk where we encountered an array of wildlife. Carlos shared valuable information about the diverse ecosystem and the area's history, all while demonstrating deep respect for nature. His attention to safety made us feel at ease. It was a privilege to learn from him and connect with the natural surroundings. We are genuinely thankful for this experience and wish Carlos all the best. For anyone considering this tour, we highly recommend it. On the first day, we arrived by boat, and we hiked out the next day. The first day had a focus on wildlife observation, while the second day was more physically demanding. Next time, I would choose a boat in/out option. Our other guide, Jenkins, was also knowledgeable and provided intriguing facts throughout the journey. He deserves admiration for his efforts in collecting plastic and trash from the beach, a task I respect greatly. Unfortunately, we did notice a significant amount of litter along the coastline during our hike out, which is disheartening in such a stunning natural environment. Attracting volunteers for regular cleanups would be beneficial since debris continues to wash up due to ocean currents. Preserving these beautiful places is a crucial responsibility for all of us.
We took a two-day tour that included a hike of about 21 km and an overnight stay at Sirena Station with Corcovado Wild Tours. Booking through WhatsApp was straightforward, and our questions were quickly addressed. We made a partial payment via PayPal and received an official booking confirmation with all the essential details promptly. The following morning, everything was well-organized as we met our guide and set off to the hike's starting point, a few kilometers prior to Leona Station, where facilities like toilets and fresh water were available. The organizer had taken care of the national park registration, so that was one less thing to worry about. While the hike didn’t involve too many steep sections, it did require reasonable fitness and sure-footedness due to the terrain and some short climbs. Our guide Jhon matched our pace, making for a pleasant challenge while allowing us to appreciate the stunning landscape and wildlife. We arrived at Sirena Station after approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes of hiking through untouched jungle and beach sections. At the station, our guide provided important information and remained available for any questions, ensuring we had a comfortable stay. Sirena Station maintained a good schedule and offered cleanliness, comfort, and excellent local cuisine, with dinner and breakfast included in the package. The next morning, Jhon offered us choices for shorter hikes and showcased a wide variety of wildlife, sharing his extensive knowledge. He highlighted the local flora and fauna while being mindful of the animals' wellbeing and warned us about potential dangers like snakes and plants. The second day's hikes were optional and could be tailored to our preferences. Overall, this tour was an extraordinary experience that instilled a deep respect for the jungle. Jhon was an exceptional guide with a profound knowledge of the area and a clear passion for its biodiversity. Thank you, Jhon!
My husband and I arranged our private overnight stay at Sirena Station with Carlos, whom the Drake Bay Greenleaf hotel highly recommended. Carlos was incredibly knowledgeable, teaching us not only about the wildlife but also about how the jungle adapts to support its inhabitants. As a botanist, he demonstrated a genuine passion for his work, skillfully locating animals by understanding the dynamics of the primary and secondary forests. Over two days, we hiked for hours while feeling completely safe in his care. We encountered all four species of monkeys along with a variety of birds, plants, and other wildlife. Our experience with him was truly enjoyable.
