A full-day trip to Famagusta and Salamis from Ayia Napa, including visits to historic sites and free time at Varosha's Golden Beach.
This full-day excursion takes you from Ayia Napa to the coastal town of Famagusta, allowing for a mix of cultural exploration and relaxation. You'll visit the Monastery of Saint Barnabas before heading to the ancient city-kingdom of Salamis, where an entrance fee of €6 applies if you choose to explore.
Next, wander through Famagusta's old town centre, framed by its Venetian walls, with options to visit the Gothic church of Saint Nicolas and Othello Castle, both with additional fees. The tour concludes with free time in the Ghost Town of Varosha, where you can stroll along the beach or take in the unique atmosphere.
Reviews
The visit and lunch in Famagusta might take a bit longer than expected. It would have been helpful to have French audio guides available, as the tour was conducted in English. However, the guide was excellent. Thank you for addressing this concern.
The tour to the Northern Side of Cyprus was fascinating. Visiting the Ghost City, Famagusta, and Salamis provided incredible experiences. Our guide, Fanos, was very friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience.
The organization was solid, the guide was excellent, and the sights were fascinating. We felt very safe, and everyone was treated as important.
Olga proved to be an excellent guide, providing important information about each stop concisely and responding to additional questions with expertise. We felt that Varosha deserved more time than Farmagusta, as there was more to explore there, but that's just personal preference. The bus driver was safe and friendly. Overall, it was a great value for the money.
Our fantastic guide, Olga, truly made the day unforgettable. She shared a wealth of intriguing insights about Cyprus' history and the archaeological sites we explored. Even though we ended up drenched, we considered this one of our top day tours and found it to be a great deal.
This excursion was truly enjoyable. Olga, our guide, was both friendly and highly knowledgeable. We had ample time at each stop. I highly recommend this trip.
Famagusta and Salamis are definitely worth a visit. However, upon returning to Ayia Napa, we realized my driving license was missing. We struggled to find any Turkish office or tourist center with an address to inquire if it had been found. It's surprising that in today's digital age, such accessibility isn't available. We ended up at the Greek police station in Ajia Napa to report the loss. It's unfortunate.
The excursion featured a wonderful array of sites, with Famagusta being the standout. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided useful information regarding the availability of facilities.
We had a wonderful day there; it's a fantastic location.
Olga was a fantastic guide, demonstrating great knowledge throughout the tour. Everything went smoothly and was well-timed. I would highly recommend this experience.
