Two hours walking tour through Progreso — sample local dishes, meet food artisans, and explore Yucatán's culinary heritage with an English-speaking guide.
This two-hour walking tour takes you through the local food scene of Progreso, guided by a local expert with deep knowledge of Yucatán cuisine. You’ll explore where recipes are crafted the traditional way, away from the touristy eateries.
As you sample various local dishes, you’ll engage with the artisans and hear their stories that reflect both Progreso’s coastal influences and Mayan heritage. The small group size ensures a personal experience where you can ask questions and learn about local eating customs. It’s a chance to not just taste the food, but to understand its significance in the culture of the Yucatán.
Reviews
This was a fantastic experience and a great value. Our guide Jorge was friendly, supportive, and made the day enjoyable!
We participated in a food tour during our cruise stop and booked directly. The communication was excellent, especially since we had some confusion with time zones. If you love food, this is the perfect tour for you. Our guide was amazing. I highly recommend this experience.
There were four of us on the tour, and we all agreed it was fantastic. The variety and quantity of food provided are impressive, ensuring you won't leave hungry. The food quality is exceptional, and Jorge shares his knowledge in a pleasant and informative manner. I strongly recommend this tour; Jorge is a wonderful guide and a genuinely nice person. Our friends, who are cruising again in May, are eager to book this tour once more.
We participated in this tour in Progreso during a cruise with my teenage sons, and it was a great experience. Jorge introduced us to some tasty spots and shared fascinating insights about the culture and history during our meal. However, he often spoke while walking between locations, making it hard for those not nearby to catch what he was saying. Additionally, locating the meeting point was a bit tricky due to the small sign on a large art installation. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would love to do it again.
