Reviews
I took our international clients to the Mandela Museum, marking my first visit there as a local. The place is well-maintained and has a lively atmosphere, with numerous restaurants within walking distance. The guides are fantastic, making it a location definitely worth exploring.
I had initial concerns that this would be more of a taxi service, but it turned out to be much more. Our guide Nkululeko, with his excellent English, provided an insightful historical perspective that made this experience remarkable. This tour is essential for truly understanding Johannesburg's essence and culture.
The service is misleading; it’s not a tour but simply a car booked to take you to three spots. We would have preferred to order an Uber instead. Furthermore, we were not informed that the first two locations were closed. I wouldn’t recommend this.
A must-visit museum to grasp the painful history of apartheid and decades of struggle. The experience starts with your ticket indicating "white" or "non-white," leading to insightful explanations that immerse you in the realities of South Africa's racial segregation. Nelson Mandela's release after 27 years of imprisonment is just one aspect of the horrors faced under this oppressive system, which was institutionalized through laws, policies, and discrimination. It left us all deeply moved.
I took the Soweto tour and found my driver, Thebe, to be incredibly knowledgeable, easy to follow, and very friendly. I would definitely recommend both him and the company.
This is definitely a worthwhile experience in Johannesburg, allowing you to see all the key attractions in just one day. Our guide was both accommodating and knowledgeable.
This was an incredible day. We got to see everything we hoped for and even more. Nkululeko was an excellent guide who shared a wealth of information. I also received pictures with him afterward. Highly recommended.
This was an incredibly memorable experience. Our guide, Sydney, truly made the trip stand out for us. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the culture and history of South Africa were impressive. I highly recommend this tour.
We had excellent private tours and rides with Sandton Taxi cabs in Johannesburg. We also used their services for airport transfers and pick up from Sudwala. The services were dependable and our driver, Nkululeko (KO), was very helpful and knowledgeable about routes and historical sites. We truly enjoyed our tours with KO through Sandton Taxi.
The hotel arranged a trip to Soweto that included a visit to Nelson Mandela's house museum. Constructed in 1945, this modest red brick home was the Mandela family's residence from 1946 until the 1990s. Now a museum, it features bullet holes, scorch marks, original furnishings, memorabilia, and photographs celebrating Mandela's legacy. An English-speaking guide led us through both the interior and exterior, providing valuable insights. Archbishop Desmond Tutu's home is located right across the street, making it the only place in the world where two Nobel Peace Prize laureates lived nearby. The area has transformed into a popular tourist spot filled with markets, entertainers, and restaurants. We paid a R60 entrance fee per adult, and the taxi ride took about 30-35 minutes from the NH Johannesburg Sandton hotel. A guided tour typically lasts around 40 to 60 minutes, but the small house can be explored in a short time.
