Reviews
The Cradle of Humankind museum offers interesting insights, although it seems more suitable for children than adults. I would suggest waiting for the Sterkfontein caves to reopen before engaging in this visit. The Lesedi Cultural Village was enjoyable, especially the performers in traditional attire and the excellent dancing and African buffet afterward. I highly recommend any tour from Mhlanganisi Travel and Tours. Our guide for the day, KG, co-owner of the company, was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and adaptable.
The cave and museum offered a captivating experience. We really appreciated our time in the village, as learning about the various tribes and their traditions was intriguing. Our driver and host provided excellent commentary on the area's history during the trip.
During our recent trip to Johannesburg, we spontaneously booked a half-day tour and enjoyed it so much that we arranged two more private tours with KG upon our return a few weeks later. The company displayed professionalism and flexibility, and KG was attentive to our interests, tailoring the tours to suit our abilities and expectations. We highly recommend Mhlanganisi tours. Thank you.
Our driver, Pastor, was excellent, arriving promptly and sharing plenty of information during our ride to Sterkfontein Caves. It was just the two of us in a minibus, and we reached the caves by 8:30 for our 9 a.m. tour. The caves tour was interesting but be prepared for numerous steps, uneven ground, and a spot where you have to crawl; this isn’t ideal for anyone uncomfortable in tight spaces. The group was quite large, making it hard to hear the guide. The Cradle of Humankind museum was decent but not worth a visit on its own. Next, we went to Lesedi Village for a tour, beginning with a collective drumming experience. Afterward, we watched a film about the tribes before embarking on a guided village tour. There were some non-English speakers who paired off with another guide, leaving a large group with ours, which made it challenging to hear and see everything. We ended up waiting for people to catch up. The drum dance and singing performance were enjoyable, followed by a buffet lunch at our reserved table, which we liked, with reasonably priced drinks. Lastly, we browsed the village's souvenir shop, discovering some lovely handmade items.
The experience with the tour was outstanding. I am very satisfied with both the tour company and my guide, Mr. Lindella, who was incredibly flexible and accommodating.
