We arranged a private transfer with Yumi Tours from our hotel to the airport. The advertisement suggested a minivan, but instead, we were picked up in a Hi Lux type ute. Our luggage was tossed into the back tray, and we set off. During the trip, the driver received a call and we detoured to pick up two more passengers. With five adults in the vehicle, the ride felt cramped. Overall, we were not satisfied with Yumi.
The drive was excellent. The timing was perfect, and there was engaging conversation throughout. Although we encountered heavy traffic at one point, the driver knew a better route to take.
After waiting 20 minutes past the scheduled time at our hotel, we tried to reach out for support via their chat line but received no response. We ended up using a different transfer company at the last minute. I have no idea if they ever showed up.
We had a wonderful experience with our city tour the previous day, so we chose Yumi Tours again for our transfer from the hotel to the airport, specifically requesting our guide and driver, Julienne. He facilitated a brief stop at a Kava bar, highlighting that no visit to Vanuatu would be complete without trying Kava, which was traditionally reserved for village chiefs. Even though it was a bittersweet goodbye to the island, he ensured we felt embraced. The journey was short but truly unforgettable. We highly recommend Yumi Tours for transfers and tours in Port Vila. P.S. The name Yumi signifies "You and Me" or "Ours" in Vanuatu's local language, reflecting the brand's community roots.
Julian served as our driver for both the transfers to the fire show and our airport drop-off the next day. He was punctual, drove safely, and engaged in conversation during the rides. I would definitely choose his services again and highly recommend the transfers.
