My friends and I arranged a blue lagoon tour and others through this company, and it was a frustrating experience. They outsource drivers, leading to a rushed schedule that doesn't allow for enjoyment. Hidden fees are everywhere; we were promised entry and lunch included, yet we ended up having to pay for entry fees, and the lunch was barely adequate. It’s unfortunate for the drivers caught in this mess. If you're looking for an island tour, skip this and talk to local vendors who can provide a much better experience. We were charged 11,000 vatu each for a few stops, while a local offered a full day for only 15,000 vatu. Avoid these companies and go directly to locals. If I could give no stars, I would.
While the concept is intriguing, I cannot recommend this place. Entrance costs 1,500 vt per person (around $13 USD), and it's a complete tourist trap. They haven't had postcards for months, and drinks are overpriced—two rum and cokes and two beers came to $36 USD. Additionally, postcards are no longer mailed from here; if you manage to get one, it’s sent from town. For those interested, contacting the local post office via WhatsApp may allow you to reserve a few postcards to collect. We only stayed for about half an hour before heading to Top Rock, which was significantly better.
The entry fee to the island is 2000VT, but it offers little in return, such as damaged shade structures, chairs, and tables. There’s no snorkeling gear unless you pay extra, and the facilities include very basic, unclean toilets, along with a broken coffee machine. I advised many other travelers to avoid this place.
We had a fantastic day. Swimming in the Blue Lagoon was incredibly refreshing, and feeding turtles at Avi Bay was a delight. The snorkeling at Hideaway Island was stunning; we spotted copper banded butterfly fish, parrot fish, moorish idols, titan trigger fish, and large blue sea stars. Our driver was friendly and very supportive throughout the day.
The experience at the hideaway blue lagoon and turtle encounter was incredible and is a must-do while in Vanuatu. However, I was disappointed that Hide Away Bay didn't have the postcards to send, which is unusual since it's underwater.
We had a fantastic day! Simon, our driver and tour leader, was excellent. The food and drinks were delicious, and we really enjoyed all the activities. I definitely recommend this experience.
This was our second experience with Vila Hope, and once again, it stood out as the highlight of our trip. They are a professional tour company, featuring modern vehicles, and have friendly drivers and tour guides. I highly recommend them to anyone on a cruise ship seeking a day tour.
The day was incredibly well organized, setting off ahead of most other cruise boat excursions, allowing us to visit all the locations before the crowds. The food was delicious, particularly the fresh fruit, and our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, going the extra mile to ensure we truly appreciated Vanuatu.
My partner and I, together with fellow travelers Kaz and Ted, had an outstanding day on this tour. Our guide and driver, Brendan and Ray, were exceptional. We reached the blue lagoon before the crowds, enjoyed a lovely lunch at the turtle sanctuary, and had a peaceful stop at the waterfall on the way back. Brendan shared many fascinating facts about Port Vila, and we all had a great time together. It was by far our best day of the vacation. We even spent time together at our resort afterwards, reminiscing about how wonderful the experience was.
Julian was a fantastic and interactive tour guide who took us to many wonderful additional sights while engaging us in conversation during our drive.
