Alfred and Julian from Yumi Tours provided an excellent experience during our cruise ship visit. We were promptly met at the port and began our 6-hour round-the-island tour. Alfred, our knowledgeable guide, showcased Vanuatu expertly, while Julian ensured our comfort as the driver. The roads were in good condition, with beautiful scenery throughout. We enjoyed great weather with just a brief rain shower. The itinerary included the Pepeyo Cultural & Educational Tour, where I recommend using mosquito spray, although I personally didn’t get bitten here and found the island to be malaria-free. The presentation was fascinating, led by a remarkably talented individual. The Blue Lagoon was also well-organized, with designated entry points for each group. Lunch at Sara Beach Top Rock was delicious, though the restroom facilities were basic, which added to the island's charm. The Nasinu Hot Springs were surprisingly hot, and while the pool's base could be slippery, changing areas and showers were available. We learned about Tanna Coffee and even saw demonstrations of its production, with the coffee mainly exported to Australia and New Zealand. To cap off our day, we enjoyed a traditional bowl of Kava, which provided a unique taste and experience. Meeting our guide gave me confidence that we were in capable hands. Alfred shared insights into Vanuatu's cohesive society, highlighting their emphasis on family and community contributions. All food is organic and locally sourced, as there are no fast food establishments on the island. With an average life expectancy of 95, I couldn't help but feel envious.
The tour was fantastic and well-organized. Meeting instructions were straightforward, making it easy to connect with Yumi tours after disembarking the tender boat. We explored a local village to learn about their customs and efforts to preserve them. Swimming in the stunning blue lagoon with its clear, cool waters was a highlight, followed by a relaxing time at the hot springs where we soaked our feet in the very warm water. Lunch at a scenic spot overlooking the ocean featured delicious fish and chips with refreshing drinks. Our visit to the coffee factory and Kava house rounded out the experience, and we returned to the ship with ample time to spare. The itinerary was both interesting and enjoyable, and our guide, Alfred, was outstanding, providing us with valuable insights into the country and its culture. I highly recommend this tour for cruise ship visitors.
Our guide Moses was fantastic! He took us around the island, sharing insights about Vanuatu. The cultural village was fascinating and enjoyable, featuring fire walking and music. Floating in the Blue Lagoon while watching others rope swing into the water was lovely. The freshly caught red snapper for lunch was delicious. We swam at Survivor Beach and discovered a blue starfish. We decided to skip the hot springs due to storm debris and passed on the kava stop. Just a heads-up, the roads can be quite bumpy on this tour. Thank you for an excellent experience!
Moses, our guide, provided a thorough insight into the island's history, bringing it to life with his engaging storytelling and humor. He attentively addressed our needs throughout the tour. We enjoyed swimming, delicious meals, and a visit to the fascinating tribal cultural village. This was one of the best tours we've experienced in quite a while. Thank you, Moses.
Chris was an excellent driver and guide, ensuring we felt safe and at ease. He was warm and engaging, yet also respected our quiet moments when we preferred to enjoy the views silently. The overall experience was very positive, but I must highlight the food at Top Rock—it was incredible! I'm sure anything you choose will be tasty, but the chicken and mushrooms with rice deserve special mention.
This tour deserves a perfect score of 10/10! Our local guide, Moses, was outstanding, sharing extensive knowledge about both the history and present of Vanuatu. Each stop was interesting, timely, and truly worthwhile. It offered excellent value for the price. The lunch was fantastic, and the views were even more impressive. The small group size made the experience enjoyable and personal, allowing for great conversations with Moses. This tour is essential to fully explore Efate Island.
We had an excellent day exploring Efate with our guide Julian, who arrived punctually at our accommodation and shared insightful details about the island during our drive. Our first stop was Pepeyo Village, where we enjoyed a traditional kastom demonstration and learned about their dance and music. We then visited the amazing Blue Lagoon, featuring numerous rope swings and jumping platforms. Next, we made our way to the hot springs, smeared ourselves in volcanic mud, rinsed off, and relaxed in thermal baths of different temperatures. Lunch at Top Rock was fantastic, especially the fried fish, all while enjoying a stunning view. We also had a brief yet informative visit to the Tanna coffee factory, learning about the process from plant to roast and enjoying coffee at the café. Although we ran out of time, Julian offered to take us to a kava bar if we had more time. The price included lunch and entry fees for all stops, providing great value. Be sure to bring a bottle of water, swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
We enjoyed a wonderful tour around Efate Island with Yumi Tours. Our guide, Stan, was timely, friendly, and very helpful throughout the day. The 4WD was clean and comfortable, and Stan provided clear insights about each stop, along with informative commentary during the ride. The itinerary was thoughtfully designed, featuring a great blend of cultural activities, nature, and a touch of adventure. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day, culminating with delicious coffee and kava. Highly recommend this experience!
We had an amazing day discovering the island. The cultural experiences were fantastic, including learning about food preservation, making fishing lines, and the methods for trapping chickens and wild boar. The Blue Lagoon was stunning and perfect for swimming—a definite highlight. Vincent, our guide, was very informative. However, we unfortunately missed the cava tasting because the cruise passengers needed to return by a specific time.
The cultural village visit was both fascinating and enjoyable. We explored the entire island, and the lunch provided was tasty and served in a beautiful location. The Blue Lagoon was delightful, offering ample time for swimming. Our guide, Stan, was polite, informative, and well-versed in Vanuatu's history and culture. We concluded the day with coffee and Kava. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, and Stan drove carefully, proving to be an exceptional guide.
