• You will be collected from your hotel in the morning and transported to Pichavaram, located 40 miles from Pondicherry. Upon arrival in Pichavaram, you will take a boat ride through the mangrove forest that connects to the Bay of Bengal. This forest features approximately 20 different types of trees and encompasses a variety of habitats, including channels, creeks, gullies, mud flats, and sand flats. It is home to over 200 bird species, such as Snipes, Cormorants, Egrets, Storks, Herons, Spoonbills, and Pelicans. Additionally, various seaweed, fish, prawns, crabs, oysters, turtles, and otters can be observed. • After exploring the mangrove forest, you will drive to Chidambaram, which is a 30-minute journey. In Chidambaram, visit the historic 10th-century Nataraja Temple, one of the rare places in India where Lord Shiva is worshipped in his dancing form, Nataraja. The expansive temple complex covers 50 acres and includes shrines dedicated to other deities, including Devi, Vishnu, Surya, Ganesha, and Nandi. Afterward, you will have lunch (beverages not included) at a local restaurant. Finally, you will be returned to Pondicherry and dropped off at your hotel.
