What's the itinerary?+
• In the morning, pickup will be arranged from your hotel for a two-hour journey to Thiruvannamalai, located 60 miles from Pondicherry. Visit the Arunachaleswarar temple, built in the 9th century and dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva. This is the largest temple in the world honoring Shiva, featuring a tower that rises 216 feet, making it the second tallest temple tower globally. The temple grounds encompass 25 acres and include numerous pillared halls, one of which contains a thousand pillars. • Following this, you will head to the Ashram of Sri Ramana Maharshi, found at the base of the Arunachala hills outside the town. You may also explore the cave on the Arunagiri slope where the saint reportedly meditated. Notable early visitors to the Ashram include British authors Paul Brunton in 1931 and Somerset Maugham in 1938, the latter basing the character of Shri Ganesha in his novel, The Razor’s Edge, on Sri Ramana Maharshi. After visiting the Ashram, lunch at a local restaurant will be included (beverages not included). Post-lunch, transportation will be provided back to Pondicherry, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
