Pickup is available from hotels in the city center or designated locations within city limits. An additional fee may apply for pickups located outside of these central areas, based on the distance.

• In the morning, pickup will occur from your hotel for a two-hour journey to Thiruvannamalai, located 60 miles from Pondicherry. Visit the Arunachaleswarar temple, a 9th-century site dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. It is the largest Shiva temple globally, featuring a 216-foot tower, which is the second tallest temple tower worldwide. The complex spans 25 acres and includes multiple pillared halls, one of which boasts a thousand pillars. • Following the temple visit, proceed to the Ashram of Sri Ramana Maharshi, located at the base of the Arunachala hills, just outside the town. There is also an opportunity to explore the cave on the Arunagiri slope, where the saint is believed to have meditated. Notable early visitors included British authors Paul Brunton in 1931 and Somerset Maugham in 1938, the latter using Sri Ramana Maharshi as inspiration for a character in his book, The Razor’s Edge. After visiting the Ashram, lunch will be at your own expense at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will return to Pondicherry and be dropped off at your hotel.
