Seeing seals up close was incredible. We're looking forward to bringing our kids along next time. Thank you.
Our seal viewing adventure in Plettenberg Bay was incredible. The organization was excellent, and the team prioritized our safety and comfort during the trip. Observing the seals in their natural habitat was remarkable; their acrobatics and playful behavior left us in awe. We strongly recommend this experience for anyone who loves nature and the ocean.
The tour began half an hour late, despite being advised to arrive early, which caused a lengthy wait. However, our guides Angelo and Red were excellent, providing plenty of information. The experience of observing the seals from such a close distance was fantastic. The duration of the tour was one hour.
We signed up for a seal viewing tour but found ourselves watching people swim with seals, as they merge both experiences. Due to safety protocols, the boat remained stationary, preventing us from seeing seals in their natural habitat or on land. It was extremely disappointing and easily the worst tour we have experienced. Additionally, the tour started 30 minutes late but still ended on time, making it feel very brief. The boat also lacked a ladder, and as mentioned in their description, it is not appropriate for younger children or older individuals.
The boat trip along Robberg was enjoyable, with many seals spotted during the journey. The boat itself provides an exciting sensation as it skims over the water. However, we were unaware that this tour also allows swimming with seals. After reaching the swimming area, we spent over thirty minutes waiting while others jumped in. Thankfully, we learned about this in advance and managed to organize a swim for the kids, which they loved.
We joined a tour to see the seals and found our guide to be both professional and friendly. Observing the seals in their natural environment was wonderful. Onboard, a couple of pairs decided to swim with the seals, and while we initially felt we missed out, we changed our minds after some thought. As a medical doctor, I would advise against swimming with the seals. Although it seems like an amazing experience, there have been reports of seals transmitting rabies. These animals can be aggressive, with potentially fatal bites. This risk wasn’t adequately communicated to the swimmers by the guides, so I want to emphasize this warning. For those wanting to see seals, I suggest opting for the safer choice of staying on the boat.
The Seal Watching Tour is fantastic. The organization is excellent, and the people are friendly. It’s certainly a worthwhile experience that promises excitement.
Our group was small, just three of us, which allowed for great conversations with Angelo, Brighton, Jean-Claude, and Kruger. We learned a lot about the seals around Robberg peninsula and other marine life in the area. Swimming with those beautiful, curious creatures was an incredible experience that I highly recommend. I plan to return without a doubt. Thank you, everyone!
Despite the rough seas, the experienced operators transformed this into an unforgettable adventure. The windy conditions made things unpredictable, but we seized the chance and have no regrets. Thanks to the true professionals, we felt secure and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
It’s likely enjoyable if you are interested in snorkeling with seals, but otherwise, you may find yourself sitting for an hour and a half in a small boat, which may not be worthwhile. If snorkeling isn’t for you, I would suggest considering other options.
