This was a long-time dream of mine, and it truly lived up to my expectations, aside from the scaffolding, which can be overlooked. The building is incredible, and the detailed tour is definitely worthwhile. George, our driver, added to the experience with his entertaining personality and extensive knowledge.
It was my first experience at Falling Water, and I took my sister, who has dreamed of visiting since childhood, for her birthday on our road trip to Minnesota. The day was quite warm, but the house is nestled in the woods, making it feel like you’re going off track while driving in. Just keep going, and you'll reach it. The surrounding trees provide shade, helping to keep the area cool. Keep in mind that there are no elevators, so you will need to climb stairs in the house. Wheelchair access is available on the first floor. Getting around includes about a mile of gravel paths that go uphill and downhill, which may pose challenges for those with mobility issues. The house itself is quite distinctive and open, and it’s remarkable how modern it feels despite being built in 1937. The photography doesn't capture its beauty well. The windows open beautifully, allowing multiple views of the falls and the water. The landscape is stunning and I can only imagine how spectacular it is in the fall with changing foliage. Visitors can choose to tour the house or just explore the grounds, with the latter option including access to the house if you decide to go inside. Overall, it’s a stunning location that I would highly recommend visiting.
St. Clairsville, Ohio, which borders Pennsylvania, features a downtown area that preserves its historic architecture. While the city was quiet during my visit, the cold weather added to the stillness of the day.
This is a fantastic location with an excellent guided tour. Make sure to book ahead, as spots fill quickly and there are limited tours available. Our morning visit to Fallingwater, which was on my bucket list, exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed it immensely and would like to revisit in the fall to see the beautiful landscape surrounding the home. The staff at check-in were friendly, and the open-air area featured a gift shop, snack shop, and exhibits. A tip: use the restroom before the tour begins.
The house is truly remarkable, and the guide had a wealth of knowledge. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who appreciates Frank Lloyd Wright. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes since there are many gravel paths and numerous stairs. This tour may not be suitable for those in a wheelchair or for those who don't enjoy walking.
This is a captivating destination that is definitely worth a visit. The architecture is truly unique, appealing to anyone who appreciates buildings. However, it isn't inexpensive, so it's best to make reservations in advance.
Let George Debolt handle the driving while he shares fascinating stories about Pittsburgh and its charm during the trip to Fallingwater and back to your hotel. Be sure to book separate admission for Fallingwater; the visit is definitely worthwhile. It was an unforgettable experience.
Stunning and one-of-a-kind house situated over a waterfall. The guide was excellent in sharing information. Everything was well-organized, from the visitor center to parking and the gift shop. It's about a 90-minute drive from Pittsburgh. The gift shop offered some interesting items, though they were quite pricey.
It's essential to arrange your own tour prior to securing a trip through Viator. Not being aware of this made everything quite challenging.
The guide was fantastic, incredibly engaging, and possessed a wealth of knowledge. He skillfully combined various events and figures to foster a discussion that addressed the topics of interest. Moreover, the area's historical context in the USA added another layer of depth to the experience.
