The experience with Sandbar was truly wonderful, starting with the fitting of wetsuits and boards, and continuing into the lesson. Everyone, kids and adults alike, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our surf lesson was a fantastic experience. I went with my two children, ages 14 and 8. I was initially nervous about taking my youngest, but I felt reassured right away, and all of us had a great time. The instructors were excellent—very supportive and encouraging—especially Connor, who connected wonderfully with my kids. Everything we needed, including wetsuits and boards, was provided, and my son loved the free croc charm he received at the end. I'm so pleased we chose to do this; it was definitely one of the highlights of our vacation.
We had a wonderful time during a private lesson for our family, which includes kids aged 9 and 11. From the beginning, everything was positive and enjoyable, and the instructors showed immense patience, particularly with our son who has neurodiversity. In the end, we all stood up and caught a wave, which felt fantastic. Now, my kids are even asking for surfboards for Christmas. I highly recommend this experience.

We traveled from Florida to drive along the PCH and stopped at Pismo Beach, where we decided to try Sandbar Surf School. I highly recommend this place. Jonny and Shane were our instructors, and their warm welcome, humor, and friendly dog set a positive tone for the morning. They provided an orientation for my wife, two teenage daughters, and me, helped us get fitted with wetsuits, and had us practice surfing techniques on the sand before we hit the water. Shane was attentive, guiding each of us on technique and wave catching, while Jonny was vigilant in ensuring everyone's safety. This turned out to be a fantastic experience, and despite our 10 days along the PCH, my daughters considered it their favorite moment. Thank you, Jonny and Shane.
My husband first learned to surf with Sandbar Surf School a few years ago, and now whenever he visits Pismo Beach, he makes sure to surf with them again. This time, we brought along our two young grandchildren, and I was initially worried about their safety with strangers in the ocean, but I could not have been more satisfied. The instructors were fantastic. The kids had three lessons over two days, including an amazing sunset tour. They received excellent instruction, assistance, and were kept safe throughout. They had a wonderful time and developed significant skills for their ages during our short time on the water. We look forward to returning!
The instructors were fantastic in teaching my two 11-year-old grandchildren how to surf. Shane, Riley, Tyler, Mike, and Brian displayed great patience and provided excellent assistance throughout the lessons.
This was the best experience I could have hoped for. My 9-year-old nephew, who had never surfed before, received a private lesson from Robbie, who was fantastic and had him surfing in no time. Although my nephew is usually shy and a bit nervous around water, he felt completely at ease with Robbie's guidance. I strongly recommend Sandbar Surf School.
Molly and Geoff were both wonderful. My three daughters and I had a fantastic time getting introduced to surfing. We only wish we could have stayed longer in Pismo to try it again.
