Five-mile paddle down Salt River from Saguaro Lake, where you might see wild horses and other wildlife; kayak rental and shuttle included.
Starting from Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, this unguided kayaking trek takes you five miles down the Salt River through Tonto National Forest. As you paddle, keep an eye out for wild horses and various birds that frequent the river, particularly during the warm months.
The experience includes a kayak (or a stand-up paddleboard if requested in advance), paddle, personal flotation device (PFD), and a shuttle back to the launch site. Note that while the float is relatively scenic, some sections of the river have swift water, and tipping out can happen, so be ready to get wet.

This was an incredible experience, and although it wasn't our first time kayaking on this tour, it was still amazing. I highly recommend it for anyone in the Phoenix area.
The whole experience was outstanding. The staff delivered exceptional service and ensured that it was enjoyable. This was my first time having an adventure like this, and I am completely hooked. Thank you very much!
The views were breathtaking, and the river offered both beauty and excitement with its occasional rough patches. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we even spotted a wild horse.
Booking our trip was a breeze. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The views along the river were stunning, and we encountered various wildlife, including horses. We will surely return.
This was an excellent experience; there was private parking available without the need for a park pass. The kayaks were in excellent condition, and the customer service was exceptional. As a local, I'm looking forward to bringing out-of-town guests back here.
An incredible experience. Every member of the staff was helpful and wonderful. I’m looking forward to doing it again.
This is our third time booking with Saguaro Guest Ranch, and we love it! We are so happy with our experience that we're planning to make several more reservations in the future with family and friends.
The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Our group of three included two newcomers, and despite initial nerves about the unguided kayaking, we had an overall enjoyable experience.
We had a fantastic time. The ranch was easy to locate and had a restroom available for changing. Our instructor was well-informed and provided thorough guidance before we set off. I suggest kayaking rather than paddleboarding due to the rapids. A helpful video explaining the river was also sent to us. The sit-on-top kayaks were a blast, and although the experience was unguided, they advised us on where to exit and greeted us with a cool van and water once we reached the shore. The ride back to the ranch took only 10 minutes. All the staff were friendly, and the scenery was stunning. With just six people in our group, it felt intimate. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing experience.
The company is well-organized, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Make sure to bring water and sunscreen for your day out with family.
