What's the itinerary?+
• If you're interested in exploring the less common paths in Petra, the journey commences at the Petra visitors center. A local guide will lead the way and the tour includes a 20-minute drive to the back entrance of Petra near Al Bayda. From this point, the walk and hike to the Monastery begin. You will encounter wild terrains and expansive views of the nearby mountains, giving you a sense of solitude in Petra. Upon reaching the Monastery, numerous Nabatean caves, tombs, and carvings will be available for exploration around the monument. Ascending from the ground level will provide breathtaking views, perfect for capturing photographs in front of the iconic cave door opposite the Monastery. • After visiting the Monastery and its surroundings, the tour proceeds to the Basin restaurant for a buffet lunch or another nearby dining option. Following lunch, the itinerary includes visiting Qaser Albent to enjoy views over the colonnaded street and the great temple. • This street is an original Nabataean construction, later remodeled during Roman times. Serving as one of the main shopping avenues in ancient Petra, it was reconstructed in 106 BC and measures 6 meters in width. • The "Royal Tombs," located above Petra, consist of an impressive series of large mausoleums carved into the Jabal al-Khubtha rock massif, displaying remarkable ancient artistry. • Next, the group will head to the theater, which is etched into the mountainside near the High Place of Sacrifice. This theater features three tiers of seating separated by passageways and can accommodate up to 4,000 viewers. It was crafted during the reign of King Aretas IV (4 BC-AD 27) and was later renovated by the Romans. • The tour concludes at the Treasury, also known as Al Khazna. This 40-meter tall structure is richly adorned with Corinthian columns, friezes, and allegorical figures. Crowned with a funerary urn that, according to local folklore, guards a pharaoh's treasure, its original purpose remains a mystery. Likely built in the 1st century BC, the urn served as a memorial for royalty. The Treasury features two levels and measures 25.30 meters in width and 39.1 meters in height. As the day comes to a close, guests will walk back to the visitor center along The Siq, the primary route leading to the city. This rock canal extends 160 meters in length, varies between 3 to 12 meters in width, and reaches heights of up to 80 meters. Part of the Siq is naturally formed, while the remainder has been sculpted by the Nabataeans.
