4Pescara may be known as the “City of Two Cities", but its story goes much further back than the unification of two towns, Pescara and Castellammare Adriatico, in 1927. On this self-guided walking tour, you’ll find out how a city devastated by WWII bombs managed to rebuild while preserving its 2,000-year history. Starting at Piazza del Sacro Cuore, you’ll cross both of Pescara River’s banks and discover a city that’s authentically Italian without the tourist crowds. You’ll hear about its origins as Ostia Aterni’s Roman port and how it became a Spanish fortress. You’ll also find out about the city’s strong connection to its most famous son, literary legend Gabriele D’Annunzio. You’ll stroll along seaside promenades lined with historic neighbourhoods, passing by innovative contemporary art galleries and traditional markets. You’ll walk the longest cycle-pedestrian bridge in Italy, the 466-meter Ponte del Mare which offers panoramic views from the Adriatic to the Apennine Mountains.
5An extraordinary tour of the wine history of Abruzzo. Wine tasting and appetizers. The winery is one of the oldest in Abruzzo. Born in the 1897 is now located in Nocciano, between the Gran Sasso and the Majella mountains. The winery offers an astonishing tour through the wine life in Abruzzo, especially the visit of the underground tunnels where hundred thousands bottles are stored for ageing and the ethno-antropologic museum collecting items related to the viticultural and peasant tradition in Abruzzo. The winery can be reached only by car. Tasting of 4 wines and other typical products follows the tour.

You will do 2 tastings in the family-run stores of the market. You will continue in the village of the native places of Gabriele D’Annunzio doing 2 more tastings in the alleys among the dozens of restaurants, bistros and wine bars.
