Elizabeth and Avery demonstrated an impressive understanding of coffee and ecotourism. They created a welcoming atmosphere for us. All trails and demonstrations were accessible for everyone. The range of wild birds was astonishing, and meeting their ducks and chickens was a highlight. This was a fantastic tour.
This experience was simply spectacular. The views, the activities, Toby, and the coffee were all outstanding. I highly recommend this tour with Arvey and Eli; their enthusiasm and commitment to coffee, the estate, and broader topics like life and politics are infectious. It was a pleasure to meet and visit with you.
This private tour of a small coffee farm is an absolute essential. It's conveniently located near Pereira yet retains an authentic feel. The owners clearly demonstrate their passion for their craft, making it evident how much they love what they do. I acquired a wealth of knowledge about coffee during this single tour.
Visiting Arvey and Elizabeth's coffee farm was an exceptional experience. I was picked up from my hotel in Pereira and transported to their farm, where I learned about the entire coffee-making process from start to finish. Arvey guided me around the property, explaining the life cycle of coffee plants and their harvesting methods. He also demonstrated how they ferment, process, and dry the coffee beans after picking. Elizabeth shared insights about the roasting process as we enjoyed some snacks and drinks together, and I had the pleasure of tasting two delicious coffees made on site. I highly recommend this experience. Arvey and Elizabeth are warm and welcoming, clearly passionate about their work. The farm, situated in the peaceful mountains above Pereira, is a serene getaway. If you're in the Eje Cafetero region, this experience is a must.
This experience was exceptional and deserves a full five stars. We highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to deepen their appreciation for coffee. Our host, Pablo, was remarkable, and his finca is truly impressive, featuring not only coffee trees but also a variety of fruit and flowering trees, as well as animals like chickens, ducks, cats, and dogs. He provided thorough insights into coffee cultivation, from the seed to the roasting technique, culminating in an exquisite cup of coffee. His finca has recently earned a significant award for showcasing their products at a world coffee fair in Portland, Oregon. Pablo is the most kind and knowledgeable coffee farmer you could hope to meet. This opportunity should not be missed.
This experience with Arvey and Elizabeth is truly exceptional and hard to encapsulate with words or images. Their enthusiasm for cultivating and brewing top-quality coffee, alongside sustainable and organic farming practices, sets this tour apart. You not only gain insights into the coffee journey—from bean to tree, washing, fermenting, and roasting—but also explore sustainable farming methods. If fortunate, you may even enjoy fresh fruit straight from the tree. The adventure begins when Arvey picks you up from the lively city of Pereira and guides you through the scenic mountains, sharing details about coffee cultivation, the region’s agriculture, and their small farm, which he started with his wife, Elizabeth. He insists on referring to it as "our farm," emphasizing their shared commitment. Upon arriving at the farm after about a 40-minute drive, you start by crafting your first coffee cup under Elizabeth's guidance, before delving into a comprehensive exploration of the diverse plants and trees, including citronella, cotton, mangoes, avocados, pineapples, bananas, plantains, chocolate, guanábanas, and more. Many of these plants serve specific functions, like cotton to attract birds, which has increased from 30 to 120 species since the farm's inception. You may also spot iguanas, and other wildlife such as their friendly dogs, Toby and Lola, along with various chickens and roosters providing fresh eggs. Towards the tour's conclusion, you’ll discover the quality control and processing methods for the three types of beans—washed, honeyed, and natural. You'll return to a refreshing drink, like freshly squeezed lemonade, paired with patacones, and have the opportunity to make two additional cups of coffee while learning about the roasting process. Arvey and Elizabeth's dedication to coffee and sustainable farming creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like family. With small tour groups and varying seasonal crops, each visit offers a unique experience. A quick note: being a farm, you can expect some bugs, so it's wise to bring mosquito repellent. Most of the farm is accessible for those in wheelchairs or with visual impairments. I strongly endorse a visit to Arvey and Elizabeth's farm to support sustainable coffee practices and gain knowledge about coffee production and so much more.
The experience was truly enjoyable; everything was well-timed and the attention to detail was impressive. It certainly added value to our trip. Thank you for making it so memorable.
Our coffee tour from Pereira with Arvey and Elizabeth was the highlight of our entire trip in Colombia. This tour is truly unforgettable and a must-do. Arvey and Elizabeth are incredibly warm, friendly, and funny guides—former office workers who turned into down-to-earth farmers. Their farm felt like a paradise for nature lovers. As amateur gardeners, we learned so much and were truly captivated. The coffee experience is incredibly detailed and hands-on, allowing you to fully engage with the coffee production process. But it goes beyond just coffee; we also explored the local vegetation, enjoyed the beautiful scenery, interacted with their amazing farm animals, and had deep conversations that made the time fly by. After 6 hours, we found ourselves reluctant to leave as the sun set. I hope they consider having volunteers stay and help on the farm someday so we can experience it all over again.
This was the most authentic experience we've had in Colombia. While we enjoyed all our other stops, the coffee farm is a place we would definitely return to. Elizabeth and Arvey are wonderful hosts, showcasing their deep passion for the farm as their life's work. Their enthusiasm is infectious. I realized how much I didn't know about coffee, and I never imagined my love for it could grow further. Elizabeth and Arvey shared extensive insights about the coffee journey, from planting to brewing, and we tasted coffee made in various methods. We gained knowledge not only about coffee but also about Colombian flora and fruits. The landscape surrounding the farm is breathtaking. Every aspect of our visit was incredibly worthwhile, making the farm a must-see for both coffee enthusiasts and anyone interested in experiencing the beauty of Colombian nature and culture.
The owner provided a passionate overview of the coffee plantation, supported by an English-speaking guide. The experience also included insights into plants and cocoa, highlighting the small scale and strong environmental awareness of the operation.
