Santa Isabel Volcano

Santa Isabel Volcano is a dormant stratovolcano that rises to 4,800 metres above sea level in the Los Nevados National Natural Park. Its snow-capped summit and lush surrounding forests create a striking contrast, while the area is home to unique flora and fauna, including frailejones, a plant endemic to the páramo ecosystem. Visitors often trek to the volcano's crater, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges and valleys. The best time to visit is during the drier months from December to February. Be mindful of altitude sickness as you ascend; acclimatisation is essential for enjoying the hike more comfortably.
