Our day exploring the Bolaven Plateau with guide Lei and driver Le was truly wonderful. The tour included a fascinating knife-making workshop, stunning waterfalls, and a coffee plantation, making it both enjoyable and educational.
The lunch was meant to be by a waterfall, but instead, the driver took us to a roadside noodle soup spot. While the tour includes three waterfalls, we picked up a company worker along the way who advised against visiting the third waterfall, claiming it wasn't worth it. This seemed like an excuse to hurry back, as we finished an hour earlier than scheduled. It appears that the guide hired for the tour was the issue. I suggest avoiding this tour company.
The waterfalls were definitely a sight to behold, and the coffee was delightful. The guide had a fun personality, but the price of this excursion is significantly higher than it should be, which is why I rated it low. Still, anything was better than staying in Pakse.
It was a pleasant excursion, with a decent guide and driver. We had ample time for various activities. This is a great option for exploring the plateau when you're short on time.
