Vat Phou, also known as Wat Phu, is a 10th-century Khmer temple complex situated on a hillside overlooking the Mekong River. Its ruins reflect the grandeur of Angkor architecture, with impressive sandstone carvings and remnants of intricate hydraulic systems, testament to the ingenuity of its builders at that time.
Visit early in the day to enjoy the serene atmosphere and explore the nearby ancient monuments and sacred pools. The site is about 6 kilometres from Pakse and offers excellent views of the surrounding landscape, particularly at sunrise, when the mist often blankets the valley below.
