Reviews
The Manteo walking tour exceeded our expectations. This was our second visit to Manteo, and we chose to join the tour, which truly showcases the town's charm and rich history. The guide, a retired police officer known as the Chief, was both quick-witted and entertaining. Although he covered familiar historical content, he tailored the experience to suit the group, making it enjoyable and engaging. It was quite warm, and I sometimes wished for a quicker pace, but it’s understandable since it’s a group tour. I recommend planning a visit to a restaurant or tavern afterward for small bites and drinks for a wonderful evening in the OBX area. Don't overlook this opportunity.
We found this walking tour to be one of the best experiences we've had. It was both informative and entertaining. We highly suggest taking this tour in Manteo, NC.
This walking tour truly exceeded our expectations. We gained a lot of knowledge while having fun. Captain D provided us with fascinating information, and we came away with a deeper understanding of Manteo and North Carolina's history. We highly recommend it.
Our walking tour with Greg was fantastic. He provided a wealth of information and was always ready to answer our questions. I highly recommend this experience.
My sister arranged this tour, and I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise. After visiting Kitty Hawk and the Fort Raleigh historic site earlier, this tour connected a lot of what we learned. The guide was a fantastic storyteller with a deep understanding of both history in general and the local context. Despite the windy and cold weather, he was attentive to our needs.
Chief provided my wife and me with an incredible introduction to Manteo. His storytelling is among the finest I've encountered, highlighting his enthusiasm for the town's vibrant history. This tour is essential for anyone who can experience it. We're eager to return with our three children to share this experience. Cheers to “The Man”!
The Chief conducted an excellent tour, sharing intriguing historical insights about Manteo and displaying historical photos to highlight the changes in buildings and landscapes. He also recounted some remarkable personal experiences involving celebrities and heroes. His welcoming and enthusiastic demeanor made the entire experience enjoyable.
We had an excellent evening with Chief D! The tour provided a lot of history, which was precisely what we were looking for. The walking distance is short, making it suitable for all ages. His storytelling and presentation about Manteo were fantastic. I recommend this tour; it's enjoyable for everyone!
Chief led an informative and engaging tour of downtown Manteo. As someone interested in history, I found his insights on the Lost Colony invaluable. We also participated in the National Park Service's tour, which I highly suggest, as both experiences combined provide a richer understanding of the first English colony in America. Additionally, Chief shared intriguing anecdotes about Manteo's many "firsts" and its notable residents and visitors, with whom he had personal connections. This tour genuinely feels like an insider’s exploration of Manteo.
The walking tour organized by our bus group was fantastic. Chief D’Ambra was entertaining and incredibly knowledgeable, sharing insights we wouldn’t have found on our own. Since the tour is along the waterfront, remember to check the weather. In the first week of May, it was cooler than expected with a strong wind, so be prepared for varying conditions.
