The tour offered the same views as the boat ride and did not include a light show. We requested the guide return us to the hotel. Another family left just before us. It felt like a waste of time and money.
We had a fantastic time with this family activity. There were great photo opportunities, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Tyler, our tour guide, was exceptional—polite, courteous, knowledgeable, and always on time. He made our evening relaxing and enjoyable. Pascale, who guided us on the boat, was also wonderful. Fluent in both English and French, she was very informative and made the tour fun, ensuring to engage with guests individually. We couldn't have hoped for better guides. Thank you, Tyler and Pascale.
I hadn't intended to explore Ottawa, as I was in town for a morning event, but the evening tour was perfectly timed for my busy schedule. It turned out to be a fantastic choice. Without my own vehicle, the included pickup and drop-off at my accommodation made me feel much safer than if I had wandered alone at night. With a small group, I quickly made new friends. Our guide, Katherine, did an excellent job of introducing the city and explaining the importance of each location, helping me decide which sites I wanted to revisit on my last day. She even took us for a brief drive to Quebec for a beautiful nighttime view of Ottawa. I particularly enjoyed the Parliament light show, enhanced by Katherine supplying foldable chairs and choosing an excellent viewing spot, making it a memorable and educational experience. The tour also featured a boat ride, adding even more value to the experience. Eladie made it enjoyable and informative, sharing insights about the landmarks visible during the river tour, paired with her good sense of humor. It was the ideal way to capture a picture of the iconic Rideau Falls. Overall, for someone who hadn’t the time to create an itinerary for Ottawa, this tour relieved me of a lot of stress and ultimately deepened my appreciation for the city.
We enjoyed a fantastic evening on the river, viewing the light show at Parliament Hill. Our guide Tyler was outstanding, providing camp chairs for everyone and sharing a wealth of information about the city, the canal system, and its history. The boat narrator was also excellent. The tour involves mainly van and boat travel, but includes a 10-minute walk to the boat landing. Our guide and the rest of our group were very understanding as we made a few stops for my husband to rest before boarding the boat. We were extremely pleased we chose this tour.
The river cruise combined with the light show at Parliament Hill was truly enjoyable. The cruise guide provided insightful commentary on various spots along the river, sharing fascinating historical details. Andrew, our van driver, was also informative about the city and drove safely.
This experience was quite disappointing. Miscommunication contributed to the issues; I provided an incorrect pickup address as I’m unfamiliar with Ottawa. I booked the trip only the night prior and received no communication about the pickup time until just 30 minutes before departure. The driver informed me that the pickup request came in too late, which I found unprofessional for a business. After a frustrating exchange, I spoke with a manager who offered a smaller boat, which I later learned was an upgrade, but the driver refused to take us and only offered a partial refund after a cancellation fee. I was left feeling unhappy and unheard.
This experience did not meet expectations. While Gabe, the guide, was friendly, he was unfamiliar with the planned itinerary I paid for, making the tour feel less valuable. I could have purchased a similar boat tour for significantly less. I expected both a walking and a driving tour but received neither walking component. I would like a $50 refund and a voucher for a future trip.
The sunset view was stunning. Our guide provided a lot of fascinating information with a good dose of humor, communicating clearly in both French and English; Benoit was excellent. Angela also did a great job during the city tour, being clear in her explanations and very friendly.
The canal cruise itself was pleasant, and our guide Lily was excellent. However, the driving segment was lacking. It was dark, making it difficult to see any points of interest. We had hoped to see beautiful lights, but that didn't happen. The driving portion would have been better scheduled during daylight before the boat trip.
The initial segment of the tour, which involved driving, was outstanding. Our guide and the trainee were very personable and provided a tailored experience filled with fascinating insights. The French speakers graciously communicated in English throughout. However, the latter portion, the Ottawa River boat ride, was less enjoyable as the guide's rapid, continuous bilingual narration was overwhelming and caused some discomfort. Therefore, I would rate the driving tour 5 stars and the boat tour 3 stars, resulting in an overall rating of 4.
