We had a fantastic evening celebrating our friend's retirement while enjoying the Dueling Pianos and taking a pleasant walk along the river. The service was exceptional, especially from Olivia, who kept our drinks topped up with a smile. We highly recommend this experience and intend to return next year.
The cruise along the Ottawa River was delightful. Our guide, Lily, provided insightful commentary and had an engaging style. However, it was occasionally difficult to hear her because of the loud conversations from other passengers and some issues with the sound system.
The excursion was enjoyable, and the guides as well as the crew were welcoming. However, if your aim is to catch a glimpse of the city, this tour isn’t suitable. It primarily follows the Ottawa River, offering little visibility of the city due to the lush trees. Conversely, the Rideau Canal tour to Dow Lake provides a street-level view of the city and passes beneath various bridges.
The cruise was fantastic. Our guide Lily shared historical insights with a great sense of humor. It was an enjoyable experience that I would definitely recommend.
Our time on the Ottawa Boat Cruise during the Columbus Day weekend was outstanding. Kate, our tour guide, provided intriguing insights about the various houses, museums, and bridges we passed on the river. This was a great way to enjoy the sights without the hassle of traffic. I highly recommend this cruise.
This cruise did not meet my expectations. The hallways had a strong, unpleasant smell, and my cabin's bathroom was consistently stinky. The carpet felt old and dusty, and overall cleanliness was subpar, making my stay uncomfortable. The quality of food was disappointing as well, with limited options and poor taste, except for the Teppanyaki restaurant and Aqua, which offered some redeeming qualities. I found the drink selections and quality lacking too; most cocktails were poorly made, and bartenders seemed not adequately trained, resulting in drinks that were unbalanced and inconsistent. On a positive note, the service was excellent, with friendly and polite staff doing their best despite the ship's condition. However, it feels as though the cruise caters primarily to senior citizens, with activities ending early and very limited entertainment in the evenings. If you seek vibrant entertainment or a contemporary cruise experience, this isn't the option for you. To sum up, while the staff provided commendable service, the overall experience was marred by an outdated ship, unpleasant odors, substandard food, poorly mixed drinks, and minimal entertainment. I wouldn’t choose to sail on the Norwegian Star again.
The boat tour was outstanding, and our guide was fantastic. However, we had an issue with the connection in Ottawa; the boat couldn't pick us up due to high water. They provided a shuttle to the dock, but the information about the shuttle's location was not communicated clearly, leaving my wife and me to search among several tour buses until we finally asked someone for directions and found the correct bus.
The boating experience was enjoyable, but we struggled to hear the commentary as it was too loud and unclear. Even after switching seats, it remained difficult. When it was quiet, the ride was better, but we didn’t gain much knowledge about the sights. The bathroom was clean, the views were pleasant, and our son and his girlfriend had a great time.
Our trip couldn't be canceled despite the change in the boarding location and heavy rain. We are owed $400 for four people who didn't go on the cruise. The customer service was very disappointing.
The ride was stunning. Our tour guide was lively, engaging, humorous, and incredibly knowledgeable. We were even treated to a performance from the bartender, who is a new opera singer. It was definitely worth every penny.
