Reviews
Finding the meeting point for the tour proved challenging, but we eventually arrived at a delightful restaurant on a hill with views of Lake San Pablo. During the tour, we had the choice of dining there or at a fish restaurant where we could catch our own trout. Traveling with three fishermen, we opted for the fish. The tour guided us through the charming town of San Rafael de la Laguna, starting with a visit to the home of a talented artist who had an incredible garden filled with beautiful trees, flowers, gnomes, and intricately carved rock houses. We also dressed as El Coraza, a famous character celebrated in the town's annual festival. At a workshop, we created small lamas from reeds that grow in the lake. A boat ride on the lake revealed two large boulders with ancient symbols predating the Inca invasion of Ecuador. The tour concluded at a coffee shop, where we enjoyed excellent coffee and corn muffins with soft cheese, which we bought to take home. We even experienced an impromptu concert featuring marimba and drums. Everyone we encountered was exceptionally kind, making for a truly memorable day.
