• Pickup will occur in the morning from your hotel, followed by a drive to Chanderi, located 70 miles from Orchha. The town's history dates back to the early Vedic period and includes influences from later kingdoms such as the Delhi Sultanate in the 13th century, the Tughlaq dynasty, and the Mughals in the 16th century. You will explore the 15th-century ruins of Koshak Mahal, constructed entirely from white sandstone, where your guide will share the poignant story of the legendary Kati Ghati Gateway. Next, visit the Khandagiri Jain temples, which were sculpted from stone approximately 700 years ago. Notable among these temples is a massive 45-foot statue of the first Jain Tirthankara, Rishabnath, carved into a hillside. In addition to its historical sites, Chanderi is well-known for its artisanal Chanderi sarees. A vegetarian picnic lunch will be served, after which you will return to your hotel in Orchha.
