A full day trip — explore Mont Dore, the village of Yaté, Gîte Yia, and Madeleine Falls, with stops at picturesque locations along the way.
This private tour offers a comprehensive exploration of New Caledonia's scenic Deep South in a single day. Start at the Mont Dore fountain, then traverse the mountain range to reach the east coast and the village of Yaté, with a potential visit to Blue River Park. Continuing south, visit Gîte Yia and the quaint colonial church in the village of Touaourou, before heading towards Goro to admire a stunning waterfall.
On the return journey, take a break at Madeleine Falls for photos and perhaps a refreshing swim. Each stop captures the essence of the lush landscapes and rich culture of the region, making this a thorough way to appreciate New Caledonia's natural beauty.

This was the most disappointing tour I've experienced. There was hardly anything to see beyond just a view, and the drive was long and winding. The tour operator lacked knowledge about the history and the itinerary.
This tour of New Caledonia's Deep South comes highly recommended for its diverse landscapes, ranging from rainforests to arid regions. The Blue River and the giant Kauri pine forest are particular highlights. Given the vastness of the area, at least two days is needed for a thorough experience. Annie was an excellent driver and guide, providing valuable cultural insights that enriched our experience.
An exceptional experience. This is a trip that should not be missed. The landscapes are stunning, and the emotions felt throughout were memorable. I particularly enjoyed the coffee break and lunch. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
The weather was quite bad with heavy rain in the south, but our driver Evan was very accommodating. We visited the Chutes de Madeleine waterfall, then returned to Noumea, where it was just cloudy. Evan took us to a lovely viewpoint, a great cafe, and then to the Aquarium and the Maritime Museum. Overall, it turned out to be a pleasant day despite the rain down south.
This is definitely a tour I wanted to experience and highly recommend when in New Caledonia. The natural beauty is truly unique and breathtaking.
I just finished the Albatross tour "Italy, The Deep South and Sicily." A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding guide, Helen, whose expertise, protective nature during crossings, and vibrant enthusiasm truly brought each destination to life. Our driver, Enver, who I had on a previous tour, expertly navigated narrow, winding roads and was always mindful of our comfort. Their combined warmth and professionalism made my journey effortless. The itinerary was thoughtfully arranged, offering breathtaking scenery, delicious cuisine, and an abundance of rich history that continually amazed us. The hilltop towns, stunning coastline, and charming villages added so much to the experience. This marks my third Albatross tour, and I cannot recommend them enough. We had 19 travelers, a perfect size with fantastic companions. I've also participated in two other tours that preceded this one: Etruscans with Prisca and Enver, and Italian Grande with Christina and Paula. All were remarkable guides and drivers, making for unforgettable highlights. Truly worth every penny.
