It has truly expanded impressively over the years. The only downside was the children running around unsupervised in the dinosaur exhibit, which was concerning. A staff member should be stationed there to prevent any damage.
This museum was enjoyable even in rainy weather. We had a great time exploring the hands-on exhibits, especially our granddaughter who loved wearing butterfly wings while navigating an indoor obstacle course. Once the rain let up, we walked along the scenic boardwalk to the dinosaur park, appreciating the informative stops like the eagle's wingspan. Inside, the displays of Virginia's flora, fauna, and wildlife were impressive, including an aquarium and a section on Virginia's caves. The vet area was perfect for little ones to interact with the exhibits. Purchasing tickets online was convenient, and our fall visit meant fewer crowds than in spring or summer. The timed entrance process allowed us to enter quickly and enjoy our experience. It was a fantastic outing that could easily fit into a morning or afternoon.
My family and I attempted to visit VLM yesterday around 2 PM, but it was closing early for an invitation-only wine and cheese event. While this experience may not reflect poorly on VLM, it serves as a reminder to call ahead and confirm hours. This museum is a fantastic place for both kids and adults to explore and learn about the wonders of nature.
The museum is relatively small and very easy to navigate, featuring engaging exhibits. We thoroughly enjoyed our time both inside and outside, and the variety of plush toys in the gift shop was a hit with everyone.
It's a pleasant location to explore, but numerous exhibits were closed for renovations, which isn't ideal during the busy summer season. We enjoyed what was available and spent several hours there. It was quite informative.
It’s a fantastic location with plenty to explore. Unfortunately, the food cafe was not open, and food trucks were promised but did not show up. We had to rely on crackers from the gift shop to satisfy a hungry group. I recommend confirming food availability before your visit.
The Virginia Living Museum was fantastic. We were truly impressed by the wide range of animals that are native to Virginia. It's more than just a museum; it combines a zoo and aquarium as well. We were so taken with our visit that we applied our day pass towards an annual pass. We will surely return.
Purchasing the combo tickets was an excellent decision. They allowed us to skip the lines and head directly to the attractions.
This museum is fantastic. There are numerous activities for children, making it both enjoyable and educational. With indoor and outdoor spaces to discover, the play areas are outstanding. The staff is friendly and actively engages with guests. The rotating exhibits have been a favorite on every visit. It's definitely a must-see for families in the area.
This is an excellent destination for children. I believe I would have also enjoyed it as an adult, but it’s clearly designed for families. It's a fantastic choice for a rainy day, offering 1-2 hours of indoor activities. The outdoor walkway is stroller-friendly, being a wooden boardwalk.
