3Our Island Culture Tour showcases our rich and diverse cultural heritage, from our Polynesian and Tahitian foremothers, our Bounty Mutineer forefathers through to early influences of religion, and seafaring settlers joining our community including American Indians, African Americans, Irish, English, Sami and New Zealand Māori. Be immersed in the rich heritage and deep gratitude we hold for our forebears as you explore Norfolk Island’s living culture. Discover artefacts passed down through generations and hear stories of our local language, traditional fishing and historical whaling practices, weaving, cooking, and service during times of conflict all of which have shaped who we are as a community today. This experience showcases how Islanders have evolved through the ages, living sustainably on the land and sea, guided by the rhythms of the seasons. You'll also have the chance to sample traditional seasonal dishes and try your hand at weaving, all in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
4Where else in the world do you get invited into the local homes for dinner? Our Progressive Dinner takes guests on a journey through the vibrant community, where they'll visit three different family homes to enjoy authentic home-cooked meals while learning about the island's rich culture and history from their hosts. 6Meet first hand local passionate producers. Meet a local salt maker, making sea salt from the pristine oceans that surround our beautiful island and taste our local beef. Enjoy a cooking demonstration and tasting of traditional dishes handed down by our Tahitian foremothers. Have a look at the beginning of a tea industry. Norfolk tea has a beautiful blend of teas to taste. Iced Berry, Earl Grey and Masala Chai, just to name a few. Visit a local beekeeper and learn about local honeybees as well as a tasting of local honey and fruit. Please note: We visit a variety of producers depending on the season and availability. You will receive a small tasting on this tour, not a full meal.
7This factual yet fun dinner theatre is a great way to learn about Norfolk’s history. The cast of actors will take you on an entertaining journey back in time. You will be enthralled by the Commandants’ stories about Convict Settlements on Norfolk Island. Listen to a chilling recall of one of the infamous rebellions. Marvel at how the Commandants and their families adapted to life in a Norfolk Island penal colony, recreating a little piece of England in the Pacific. Explore their great challenges, impressive successes and shameful secrets. Our venue has created a special three course dinner menu of traditional English fare to complement the theatrical setting. Hearty, wholesome, British tucker fit for a Commandant and his good lady wife – fortunately prepared by free men in a modern kitchen not a poor convict over a wood stove! The Commandants’ Dinner & Show is a night of great entertainment, delectable food and loads of humour – not for the faint hearted!
8The farm tour is an iconic tour which Baunti Tour have revamped to include the following new venues, exclusive to Baunti Tours. Meet the Shire Horses and watch a draft horse demonstration and learn about farming from a bygone era with a local character and horse trainer. A palm nursery which exports palms to the world market. A stunning home garden with hydroponics, where you will enjoy a cuppa as you wander around which is home to Bounty Mutineer Descendants. The farm tour of course still travels to the Liqueur Factory for some liqueur tasting. A tour not to be missed, whilst holidaying on island.
