The boat ride was nice and I'm glad we experienced it. However, I wouldn't really classify it as a tour. We went at 1:45, and there was no public seating near the boat ramp, so plan your visit accordingly.
My experience in Newport was terrible. The staff allowed nine people to skip the line, despite complaints, and the captain brushed it off. The disrespect for paying customers was frustrating. I was stuck since I wasn't alone, making the trip not worth the cost. To add to the chaos, they drove the boat at full speed with babies onboard. I ended up soaked from the water splashing in due to the speed. Once you're on the boat, you have no escape. Without any warning, we were hit by buckets of water, which was excessive. They should have informed us about this before purchasing tickets.
Our trip with Captain Peter and Kerri was fantastic! The kids really enjoyed it, and we saw many lighthouses while learning a great deal. We definitely recommend this experience!
For our 35th wedding anniversary, my husband and I reserved the cruise online during our trip to Newport. It turned out to be a delightful experience; the duration was perfect, and the staff were both entertaining and knowledgeable, sharing insights about the sights along the way. My experience on the Rum Runner II was fantastic. The cruise started on schedule, the staff was polite and welcoming, and the views of Narragansett Bay were stunning.
My husband and I initially planned to take the Rumrunner cruise to celebrate our 10-year anniversary in Newport, but it was canceled. Instead, we opted for the sailboat cruise on the Madeleine. It turned out to be an enjoyable experience, featuring various unique Newport landmarks. The crew was friendly, amusing, and attentive. I appreciated watching them manage the sails and listening to the historical insights they provided.
A major highlight of our trip to Rhode Island was the sightseeing tour on the Rum Runner II, a genuine rum-running boat from the prohibition era. Captain Nora was incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable about Rhode Island's landmarks and history. We also enjoyed drinks on board, including beer, wine, and rum punch. This Newport harbor tour is the best we've experienced, even surpassing the sailboat tour. We’ve taken the Rum Runner II multiple times, and our most recent experience definitely won’t be the last.
It was a wonderful cruise where I appreciated the views from the water. There was a bit of ocean spray, but that's to be anticipated on a boat.
Our cruise ship docked in Newport, and instead of the ship excursions, we chose a sailing experience to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday, as she adores sailing. Being from Newport Beach, CA, it was a special treat to sail in the “other Newport.” The crew, Rob, Casey, and Shannon, were fantastic. I appreciated the reminders and the call from the team when I hadn’t checked in yet. The sailing was well-organized, relaxing, and informative with just the right duration. We enjoyed purchasing drinks onboard and loved the souvenir koozie. I had read online to bring cash for drinks, so we came prepared. We would definitely love to sail again!
